Soviet (80's?) Infantryman loadout
Hey guys,
this is my first attempt at a Soviet loadout, say what you think. I was going to put it on Red Alliance but they tend to rip things apart without constructive criticism. See what you nice fellows say first. Things I know might be wrong: 1. AKM. I know I need a AK74 (in the process of buying one) but I have been told that border and reserve units still use them, so I went with that. 2. Officers cap: I know it probably shoudnt go with battle gear, but it looks so damn cool (and will be nice for summer games)

Nice setup! Although the Flora camo you're wearing was adopted in 98, 7 years after the dissolution of the USSR.

Good job,
looks like an outfit that might have been worn during the war in Chechnya.

The jacket you have is a commercial model (the collar on the standard issue jacket is the same faux fur as the hat you have), which would suggest a contractor or an officer, if you go for an officer look, you can replace the private's belt with an officer's one (real leather and no shiny buckle). You may also find jackboots very uncomfortable in the field unless you know how to tie the foot cloth properly, and even then these things take some time getting used to (took me a good week to get it right without it constantly loosening and unwrapping). A pair of boots would be more practical and true to an officer/contractor image. Since this is a winter outfit, you can complete it with a Russian Klyaksa snow camo suit or even the old Soviet cotton snow suit. But of course, the setup is fine as it is, since we're not reanactors ![]() |
