re-seating a CA36 mechbox

Ok, I've been trying to do this for well over an hour and it's driving me nuts. I did some work on my mechbox, reassebled it, but I'll be damned if I can get the thing seated perfectly back in the pistol grip. Every time it's out by 0.5mm-1.5mm, a very little amount but enough so that the pin that locks it into the grip won't go back in. Is there a trick to doing this?

Are the wires in the way? Or the fire selector?

Did you tight the screw on the bottom of the pistol grip?

The selector plate isn't the issue. If it's the wires I'm at a loss of what to do, since I can't get at them once the motor is in the pistol grip. Trying to screw it into the plate at the bottom doesn't work -besides, I've had it seated correctly before and it isn't necessary to screw it in to get it to seat correctly.

Check the fake bolt catch. It unseats itself a lot when trying to reinsert the gearbox, could be getting in the way.

make sure that the wires down at the motor are in thier right place.
there are notches on either side of the gearbox motor housing that the wires need to be in, and then they need to be nice and tight to the edge were the motor housing holds the motor.

I have a Star G36K, I am not sure if the design is exactly the same.

I would suggest you to remove the pistol grip plate. There is 2 little screws front and back, then you can remove the plate to see what you are doing.

Second, set the selector lever and plate to semi-auto. It will help you slide the mechbox in. (In fact, it is almost impossible to do otherwise)
Also keep an eye for the cut-off lever or the right side of the mechbox. Mine sometimes moves a tiny bit out of the way and prevent the mechbox from sliding all the way in.

Then check that you have the little spring on the fake bolt catch, and check that it is correcty placed.

When you insert the mechbox, it is easier if you tilt it a bit backward to start fitting in the grip. Easier to keep an eye on the bolt catch, and it lets the trigger fit in place nicely.

Finally, when you are about to fit the crosspin, press down the fake bolt catch to clear the space. To see if everything is in line, check the foward most hole, the one where the magwell pin passes though. If this hole is al lined up, then your mechbox is at the right place.

All done, many times over. As I've said, it's not the first time I've had the mechbox out. I honest to god have no idea why I can't get the damned thing in. I'll try tilting the mechbox backward a bit, but I think I've done this too.

I know I'm being difficult and I thank all for the replies, but hey, I wouldn't have posted this in here if it wasn't frustrating the hell out of me. I'm almost tempted to take the motor off and try seating the MB in to see if it's the wires catching or if it's a problem somewhere else.
