ICS AK74M Pinion and Bevel Gear

Hey, I need some help/advice on what to do about my ICS AK internals.

I was out with my friend airsofting and my AK started grinding on semi and full auto.

I went home and took it all apart to find that my bevel and pinion gears were somewhat worn down (the gears are all black but where they were worn down they are a silver color). No other gears seemed to be worn down. No gear teeth missing.

Nothing else seemed wrong with the gun except for a few tiny and greasy clumps of what I asume is burlap (from my ghillie) that were twisted around some of the gears.

What caused the problem? The bit of burlap or something else? Becuase I didn't find anything else wrong with the internals but maybe I don't know what to look for.

Should the gears be replaced?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Motor might be too low, try brining it up a bit. Take screw out from pistol grip and use right sized Allen key to adjust the motor.
Also, if the mechbox is properly assembled, there is no way for something like bulrap to get inside. Unless you stuff it down the barrel. Make sure that you don't forget to install small plastic piece that covers bevel gear.

I think that the motor was too low, but I can't test it until I have some gear grease. Also, it was definately small strands of burlap in the mechbox. How it got there I have no idea, but it was all over the gears.

When you say the small plastic piece do you mean the one that sits behind the trigger? That piece has been there the whole time.

Yes, if that piece is not in place you can get all kinds of things into the mechbox, triggergoard can also bend and jam bevel gear. You don't want that to happen.
