Buttstock problem w/ CA M15A4
I just completed an install of the following parts:
Area 1000 Polycarb Piston Area 1000 Head PDI 140 spring Deep Fire Spring Guide v2 I was attempting to screw the long bolt which attaches the buttstock to the receiver. It will not screw all the way in,there is about a 1/2 inch gap. Any suggestions will be appreciated... Thank you |

Did you remember to put the stock spacer back in?

Just a suggestion, never had a CA before, but if its the same then this may be it.
It could be the metal plate inside the stock that is secured by the screw and buffer tube isn't on right, not sure if it accounts for the 1/2inch gap but it would leave a reasonably sized gap if it wasn't seated in the grooves properly. EDIT: Take it apart and put it back together again, may have misplaced something during rebuilding. Maybe something is blocking the hole on the back of the receiver (spring guide broken/out of alignment?)....... Last edited by Denis[teamplayer]; March 16th, 2007 at 21:18.. |

Let me clarify gap: I can slide the buttstock on the tube and it fits securely against the receiver. It's the bolt which after being tightened, sticks out a 1/2inch.

What about the washer for the bolt?

I had a similar problem with an aftermarket spring guide that was not hollow all the way, therefore the screw would only go in so far on my TM M16. I remidied the problem by cutting the long stock bolt.
I suggest you take it apart again and see if the spring guide is indeed your problem. If it is, you have 3 choices, re-install the stock spring guide, cut the bolt, or buy a different after market spring guide. |

Dirty Deeds, You are correct.. The stock Classic Army spring guide is over an inch deeper then the Deep Fire. What a drag.. I'll take it apart and install the stock one.
Thank you all very much. |
