v2 trigger post thing

hey all, had a problem with my systema m120 mechabox.

wasnt getting a circuit to my motor, after some trouble shooting came to the conclusion it was inside the mechbox. i opened it up to find that the trigger contacts werent reaching the brushes. "oh my trigger popped lose somehow, ill just fix that and be on my way" i thought. so i did. and my gun fired on full no problem. when i went test semi. bam, did it again. same characteristics as before. so i reluctantly broke it down again and found the same thing. "hmmm theres more than meets the eye here." i thought. it being a systema box i was reluctant to mess with a good thing, but theres a problem here i need to fix. so i gutted the box an lo and behold!!!! i found that little post thing that sits behind your trigger contact preventing the tappet plate from dislodging the trigger has broke of.... fuckin ghey.

anywho, im not too overly concerned, but im just looking for the thread about who and how someone repaired it with jimmy rigging a screw in place. if you could help out with this ith either first hand experience or the link, id appreciate it. just looking for a guide line so i dont miss something.

1/ Drill small hole where post used to be

2/ Tap for #4-40 threads

3/ Screw in #4-40 set screw, about 1/4" long.

I've done that to a few V2 mechboxes, and it works great. Unfortunately one has to have access to taps and different sized set screws in order to do it.

don't forget to use a good high strength thread locker. If you don't the screw could vibrate free. I use Loctite Red and never had any problems with it and have done a good dozzen mechbox's this way.

Oh ya, after you drill and tap, be sure to use alcohol or some other grease remover on the hole to make sure you wash away all the grease/oil etc from the hole so the loctite holds securely.

Good points. I'll add also, make sure the depth you set the screw doesn't interfere with the selector plate.

yea i figured that out lol. myself and swatmedic drilled a hole in place, taped it, inserted the screw (flared the one end before hand) with red locktight. then i ground down the exterior side so it was flush and didnt interfere with the selector plate. then i cut down the length inside so it didnt interfere with the sector gear (would cause contact with the teeth). so got er all don, works like a dream. thanks for your guys' help tonight, i would have stressed over this all night and day untill i completed this, so im glad i we were able to finish it.

This is very good information. I will be attempting this on my G&P mechbox very soon.

it is also note worthy to say that using a lubricant during the tapping process will help make cleaner and more accurate threads, and don't forget to clean the lubricant before you use loctite to secure the bolt.

I have a V2 mechbox repaired with a screw that was then dremeled for fit. Has been working like a champ ever since. Gump has that repair down pat. You might be able to catch him over at www.wolfpackairsoftcanada.com, I don't think he comes on here anymore. He has a trick for doing it and it staying repaired and it doesn't used locktite...
