ICS AK-74M rail fix
Or: how to fix the side rail to receive RS Russian optics...
This is a really easy fix. I at first tried to fit a real steel rail on but the mount holes are in the wrong locations. If you really want to drill the receiver and mount a real rail or buy the ICS replacement I've heard about, then by all means go for it. However, for people stubborn and cheap like me... Glue a small piece of sheet metal as shown in this picture. Make sure you clean the rail and the piece of metal first, to ensure a strong bond, as this piece of metal will be under a lot of friction every time you remove the optics. I used normal super glue. Clamp the piece down as it dries, but DON'T use your optics to do so (this should be obvious, you don't want to glue that POSP or Kobra permanently to the rail, do you?). That's it! For metal I used aluminum car body stock. The piece I cut was roughly 1/8" x 1/2".
