G&P CQBR...problem, or am I just paranoid?

I picked up a CQBR from 007 about three weeks ago, finally got around to making an adaptor for the Deans connector for my charger.

After some test firing today, I'm noticing a few things.

First, the gun is LOUD. I was expecting something quieter than my ICS M4, but this gun is the same loud bang, if not louder.

Second, after getting through ONE midcap loaded with about 115 rounds, the pistol grip was getting pretty warm. Never had this happen before on my ICS.

Third, twice during the test firing, the trigger stuck on semi, almost as if the gun was on safe. I had to switch it to auto, fire a couple rounds, and switch it back to fire again on semi.

Is this normal operation for a G&P, and I'm just crazy? Or is something not right with this gun?

Edit - I should note that this is my first experience with an upgraded gun. I've got a KSC 18c and an ICS M4, and the M4 has never even been opened, much less upgraded. So I'm a little unsure of what to expect out of this gun.

Don't worry.
All of them are normal.
It shoots around 400FPS out of the box,so it should sound pretty lound due to the short barrel and high power.

You could always call Ken @ 007 and get his opinion.

Hah, all of the things you described are found on my GG Gr16. I noticed the grip gets warm as well, I guess the motor is really going at it if you keep it down. Did you fire on full auto the entire midcap?

Normal with G&P. Watch the trigger post thats built into the mechbox. When it breaks and break it shall, then your trigger contact thingy will unseat itself every once in a while and totally kill your connection, which will make pulling the trigger stop working in some cases. A pain in the ass where the only fix in sight is to replace the mechbox casing or drill into it and replace the pin with a screw or a machined metal post.

As for the grip getting hot, wireing issue with G&P brand AEG's? I'm not sure, It's not very apparent on my G&P commando. Also mine didnt come upgraded to 400 fps. Maybe I'm just lucky? :P

I have never seen this happen with a G&P mechbox and I've probably worked on more G&P guns than anyone in Canada. G&P mechboxes are as tough as they come. The only way you're going to break that post is intentionally. And this really has little to do with his problem at hand. Nearly all guns will temporarily lock up in semi-auto. Ver 3 guns are the most notorious for this, but Marui as an example covers this problem in every manual for every gun they make.

Vatek, your motor heating is normal as the motor brushes seat themselves against the commutator. You'll also notice a slight burning smell. This is normal. Try to avoid long bursts of full auto and don't try to empty your mag in a single trigger pull.

Your gun loud because G&P uses a flat piston/cylinder head system and you likely have a 110 to 120 m/s spring in that gun. It's going to be loud, especially on a dry-fire. You can partially solve this by installing a silent head system, but it will cost you a few FPS.

I've gotta disagree with yout here. A few guys on our team running G&P AEGs have blown those posts after extended semi-only fire. You would think that G&P would make the post full width to cater to the 99% of owners who don't use larger super uber duper torque up gears, but noooooooooooo they decide to make a weaker post...

Well then I stand corrected. I have never seen this happen in a G&P AEG and I assure you I've worked on more than any other gun tech in Canada. Probably 30-40 by now. But then nobody I know uses semi!!!!!
