The following assumes you're using a KSC/KWA GLOCK 18C GBB:

When a Glock's magazine is out, it's slide should not lock back.

When you received your Glock 18C, the pieces were new and still tight fitting. The slide catch was getting stuck on the frame. Over time and through use, you have worn the piece in. (This happened with my KSC Glock 19).

Your Glock is now functioning correctly.

EDIT #1: When you say the mag is "out," do you mean that you've dropped the magazine? Or do you mean you've run out of BBs? If it doesn't lock back when the mag is out of BBs, it could be one of two parts that have broken.

The most likely cause is that Part #233, "the BB follower," has broken. This is actually a piece of the magazine, rather than the gun. When the last BB is fired, the corner of this piece should stick up through a notch on the top-right of the magazine. This piece pushes up on Part #66, the slide catch. This piece is usually broken by repeatedly allowing it to fly up and hit the top of the magazine by releasing it before you've filled the mag with BBs. (This is a common accident). If your not sure if it's broken, disassemble your mag and compare the shape of your part to the one in the exploded diagram that came with your gun.

If that's not the problem, check your Part #66. It should have a small, triangular piece of metal which hangs over top of the magwell (visible only when the slide is removed from the frame). I can't imagine how this piece would break, but if that triangular piece isn't there, or is bent upwards, that's why your slide isn't locking back.

EDIT #2: The last possibility is that your slide isn't blowing far enough back for the slide catch to actually lock, which could be due to one of several different causes. The most probable cause is dirt. Clean and oil the internals and rails.

When that fails: You may need a new Part #24 (a.k.a. "rocket valve", or "floating valve"). The only way to know for sure if this part is broken is to lift and disassemble the slide's internals. ...Although maybe you could hear it rattling around if you remove the slide from the frame, remove the recoil spring and barrel from the slide, and shake the slide around...
Rather than replacing this piece with a new stock part, I would recommend purchasing an Enhanced Rocket Valve. It's metal, and you won't have to worry about it braking in the future.

If your floating valve is intact, the only other possible cause is that you're hammer, for some reason, is no longer striking the release valve on the magazine hard enough, causing an inadequate gas expulsion. The solution for this, quite simply, is the purchasing of an Enhanced Hammer Spring. The installation of this, however, is far from "quite simple."
OR: Assuming you're using propane, you could try switching to Duster gas, as it's a much lower pressure. Your stock hammer spring won't have a problem releasing it, as it was engineered to work with HFC134a - not propane.

Best of luck,
Mirage
