fixed magazine

i was having problems with my kwa g23f magazine, leaking gas out the top. This problem was fixed, not by a huge amount of oil, but by taking out the release valve. The valve had a washer of spring of some sorts, which was actually broken. I put the valve back in minus the washer/spring, and now my mag works great, and it feels like it's shooting much faster. 1 question, should i not have done this, since it is my first gg, i don't know much about it? But if it's ok, i might have jerry rigged something comperable to a high flow valve. maybe?
