Anyone use British PLCE webbing?

I'm looking into getting a set of Soldier 95 british PLCE webbing, was just wondering a few things about it.

For anyone who's used it:
Any overall complaints?
Anything I need to look out for?
Is their anything that wears out easily/prone to breaking?

Is their much different quality between bergen and webtex?
IE is webtex just poor mans bergen?

I'm using the typical newb vest right now, a fake south african vest in DPM.
I can't stand the thing, doesn't fit any of my mags, and the velcro is just evil.
I've heard webbing isn't much of a step up but I'm looking to make a full authentic uniform, all the crappy kit included.

Another question is, is it worth getting the hippo pad?

I've used it - can't comment about the hippo pad though.

I'd say it's the best issued webbing there is. It is pretty pricey though.

The web-tex stuff is okay. I've got an issue bergen and use the web-tex side pouches with it. The fastex are a tight fit but the zippers are bang-on so it works.

One thing to watch out for are the various shades of colour you can get. My web-tex stuff looks bright and brand-spankin' new while my issue stuff is old and dull. Quite the contrast.

I ended up selling my PLCE to move on to the OD modular version, made by SORD Australia.

I'm in the UK army so i have used that alot. I think its alright. The buckles are the only thing I dont like about it. They are just a bitch to do up when your in a hurry. The one i was first issued was really old and i never had a problem with it breaking. Its a strong piece of kit. If you do end up buying it make sure its fitted properly to your body. Alot of people at Airsoft games have no idea how to wear them and their PLCE kit ends up bouncing everywhere when they run.

I learned that lesson on my first outing, I recall comparing myself to that guy in the navy seals movie with his dog tags flying around unsecured :P
BB's loose in my pockets, and other kit making WAY too much noise.

I agree with you on the buckles, I have a set of german issue webbing with similar buckles, there nice and easy to open, but the close is a different story.
East german webbing is worse :P

I've used the PLCE webbing before and believe me, compared to the SAAV, it's a Godsend. It's not the best (due to the damned spanish-fly closure) but it last a bloody long time. And because of the way the pouch attachments are made, you won't have them breaking off (like the Canadian '82).

I've also got the issued S90 bergen, which I will never sell. It's just so...awesome! It can carry everything, and then I can strap the kitchen sink on top. Right now I'm just poking around for a nice CADPAT cover.
