Is the TM M4A1 Barrel Wobble Destructive?

Is the Barrel Wobble on the TM M4A1 just a hassle, or does it damage any internal parts? Also, I have read every post regarding fixing the wobble issue, and still, I can't find a definate answer to fix the problem. I thank all of you who help me in advance, because dropping over 500 bucks for an AEG is really expensive.

Well I do not have a M4, I do have a M16 and well the wobble is not that much at all. When I first recieved my rifle it had no wobble but over time developed some. A few weeks ago I purchased a Hurricane Metal Body from Rangers Airsoft, good place to order from BTW, and it has got rid of the barrel wobble all together but an one peice outer barrel would help even more when combined with a metal body but the barrel on its own is almost useless except it would prevent the bending of the inner barrel.

harley i tried that and it didnt fix my wobble. that portion of the wobble is gone i guess, but i still get wobble from the plastic upper reciever flexing. i can see the body bend when i wobble the barrel now......``then dont wobble the thing, dumb ass``

when i first got the gun i didnt notice any wobble, it might have been there but i didnt notice. id like to find the guy who started the first thread on the subject that i read and punch him.

like steve said, as far as i know the Tm m4s have this issue right outta the box.
vodnik's fix does really help the issue but is not a "real" permanet fix. like steve mentioned, one piece barrel and metal body.

i got help from a friend to do a variation on vodnik's fix and thats what i have now. the wobble is substantially reduced. my problem is that because one of my plastic tabs is broken, there is definite flex when i move my front end. if none of my tabs would have been broken, i am convinced the wobble would be extremely minimal.

Its a cheap way to fix the tabs if you cannot afford to purchase a metal body.

Indeed it may damage the gun but not necessarily in a barrel wobbly fashion.

2-point and 3-point slings increase wobble because of the added tension. 1 point slings won't add any tension.

Since the barrel nut on TM bodies are removable, some considerable movement is evident on heavily used guns. Apply epoxy between the nut and the sidewalls of the body to relieve some of the wobble.
