He was talking about the firefly hopup rubber.

Hey guys, quick question on the hop up rubber... so Drakker mentioned that Maple Leaf buckings wont be compatible with VSR-10 barrels.

Is there anyway I can tell if a bucking is compatible with VSR-10? Is it as simple as, long as it says its VSR-10 compatible then it should fit fine?

VSR10 stock hop up uses gbb pistol type rubbers. The laylax hop up uses its own hop rubber.
The best stock replacement I've used is the tan colored one I think madbull makes it. The rubber in the laylax unit works great on its own. It just need u to place an aeg hop bucking between the two "fingers" on the hop arm if you want to hop heavy rounds like .36 or better.
Edit: the laylax hop unit uses normal aeg barrels the stock one uses basically a pistol cut.

So sounds like Nineball, Modify Tan, Firefly are all highly recommended for VSR10

I have a Studio A+ Hard rubber in mine and it's great. Nice and stiff to lift any BB you want.

No... its not that way. The Maple if leaf is a VSR10/GBB pistol rubber, but the hop-up bump is so big that it doesn't fit in the stock barrel hop-up window. Just like the A+. Upgrade barrels have an open window like GBB pistols barrels, which will fit the Maple Leaf bump perfectly. Here's a few pictures:

Stock window (well, this is an upgrade barrel, so it has a larger window than the stock barrel, but you get the idea)

Open cut barrel:

The second barrel will fit any VSR10/GBB hop-up rubber, the other one will not.

This is what the maple leaf rubber looks like inside, and why it doesn't fit in the first barrel:

Its this very large bump that makes it such a good rubber. It lifts heavy BBs really easily and works almost as well as a r-hop.

For the past year I've been using a JG Bar-10 fully upgraded with all AA parts, Maple Leaf Monster rubber, and an EDGI barrel. Recently got the Mancraft SDiK with the reg and CO2 adapter, and that thing is awesome. for 340$ shipping, its definitely worth checking out. I already had the AA zero trigger, but you can use the mancraft system with just the standard sears since there's so little pressure on it. and you wont need a new cylinder head or piston. Just a suggestion, 100% recommend.

That was very informative Drakker! So it would seem that most after-market hopup rubber will need to be matched with an upgraded inner barrel.

Are there any that are known to work with the stock barrel?

Hey Jamroxorz, thanks for the suggestion. How is the sound signature when you run it on co2? Do you lose out on stealth with this conversion?

Only the Maple Leaf and the A+ will need a barrel with a larger window or an open cut. The A+ should fit fine in a barrel with a larger window like the PDI above, the maple leaf will most likely need an open cut barrel, but it should be possible to enlarge the hop-up window on a stock/upgrade barrel enough to fit the maple leaf. You can also turn any barrel into an open window barrel by remove the unneeded part. It's not a hard job, but you must make sure no not remove extra material and keep the sides of the window as "equal" as possible.

An A+ rubber will actually fit in the stock barrel, but in mine it got damaged after a few games by the somewhat sharp edges on the hop-up window. It really needs some extra space to be durable.

Awesome Drakker!

One other less related question.

What brand of mags would fit and feed properly in the TM vsr10? I find it very difficult to source original TM mags.
