e's Tokyo Marui 1911A1: "Ballistic"

Hi All,

This thing's been sitting at my desk for a while. I'm becoming increasingly busier these days and hardly have the luxury of time or money to finish anything airsoft.... especially ones that I build for my own collection. Which is no more

I've always regarded 1911s as the king of pistols. It's built on a tried and true formula that has as much iterations as the revolver. These things just work. And they work when you need it the most. Real 1911s are awesome.

But this is airsoft...
This thing has been sitting in my mind for a while. I bought parts here and there. Finally, I'd acquired enough to put something together.

And here it is. It's nothing special and not nearly as nice as some of the 1911 guru builds out there. But I like it.

This is my take on Tokyo Marui M1911A1.
Not as pretty as your folks' but I like it...i guess.

KUWABARA KUWABARA

This gun features an Airsoft Surgeon Single Stack 1911 frame in silver and An Airsoft Surgeon Double Stack Silver slide.

I wanted to get a nice looking single stack with a look and feel of a double. This is why you see a square trigger guard on the gun instead of the standard rounded one.

The grips are real ones for the real 1911s made by Alumagrip. This grip was chosen for the look and feel of the registration. Also, they were chosen to gain some of the weight lost from not using the stock MEU grips.

The Alumagrip is not heavy but at least it's heavier than the Magpul ones (which are just plastic, no weight attached). They're kinda annoying to look at since these grips are ones for frames with no magwells. But whatever...

Still, I found the Magpul grips to be more comfortable than the Alumagrips though. That thumb cut, tho.

Lastly, the grips screws are Guarder steel ones.

The slide and frame offer up some nice engravings. Just as you'd expect from a high quality part from Airsoft Surgeon. He doesnt disappoint.

This gun was tailored for indoor use during the day time with high levels of ligh. As such, both front and rear sights are steel fiber optic sights from NOVA and Prog4.

THe magazine you see there has a high output blowoff valve and some PTS mag bumpers installed.

The outer barrel is an Airsoft Surgeon 1911 Fixed Straight barrel. Hard to find one of these bad boys. had to source this one out in the States of all places!

All controls are NOVA stainless steel hand controls. The slide catch, magazine catch, grip safety, thumb safety, hammer, magwell and trigger. They work ssooo well. No adjustments at all were needed.

Although, i have to express my disappointment with the NOVA magwell. It didn't come with a hammer spring plunger/guide pin.

Internally, this gun features an all metal internal set up.

The inner frame is a Creation STEEL inner frame. The loading muzzle is a UAC aliminum nozzle with an RCC brass floating valve with a modified floating valve spring.

The blowback housing is a Prog4 Lightweight Unit with a modified integrated piston head.

The hop up unit is a NOVA brass hop up unit with a ProG4 steel hop up arm and dial.

I've tailored this gun for use in short distances. About 30-50 ft, to be exact. As such, this gun does not need a hop up system. Thus, the Airsoft Surgeon Non hop inner barrel and bucking combo was installed.

The lower assembley features an all steel hammer mech. They are airsoft Surgeon parts with Guarder Steel body pins.

<whew>

blah blah. Just look at the end of this post to find out which parts were used. lol.

THIS is the Alternative Set Up:

-Slide has been changed to the Shuey Custom "Xtreme" slide
-Grip panels changed to Magpul

This gun chronos at 320-345FPS with .20g BB Bastards and propane.

...but my....wallet....is...in pain!!

I opened it today and a moth flew out.
I found an I.O.U note inside from MYSELF for something about a 1911...

But so worth it! having a piece of art like that is priceless!

I'm yet again jealous of another one of your builds! They keep on getting better and better, and this also makes me want to get another 1911 even more!

So just to be clear, this pistol is completely useless beyond about 50ft because it has no hopup?

More or less.

Depending on your test conditions you can maybe get more or less out of that barrel + hop rubber kit.

The intention of using such a unit was for indoor use in shooting competitions. Not outdoors where things like wind and stuff disrupt the bb's flight path. Thus, i didn't feel the need to invest in seperate hop up parts like a cool rubber or crazy bore barrel that will get me those results. Competitors overseas don't really use their hop up's either. I thought I'd be a wanna be with this kind of unit installed. lol.

I don't really play much anyways, anymore. But when I used to run in competitions, they were never really above the 60ft range. So I tuned it to that.

Useless is such a strong word. I felt that one, TC. lol.

If I really wanted to I can switch that whole slide unit to a set up useable for whatever condition I am in. Or to meet your criteria to make it "non-useless". But I don;t see the need to do any of that as this gun does not seem to match your style of play.

But 50 ft...
I was happy with it. Anything further out than that, I just switch my set ups if i feel it warrants it. Or to another gun on my person, whether primary or sub. if i ever play ever again...like ever...

Don't feel bad, my ptw is useless beyond 300ft lol

I understand why you built it the way you did. For me, the hop is a fallback measure; 90% of my pistol kills are within 20ft, but that other 10% of the time when my primary goes down and I need to make a 160ft shot, I'd rather be able to make that 160ft shot.
Running .32s I'm getting basketball sized groupings at 160

True and I Agree.

But in all actuality, at 160ft distance, I'd try and close out the distance a bit, even with a rifle or pistol carry. Then again, if your the only one left vs. a whole squad, it might just be impossible to do.

But again, our play styles seem to differ greatly. To each his own.

But when in doubt:

Do you have a lot of ptw's out there? It's common for us to be engaging people that easily have 250-300ft of range. Complicates things a bit lol

To be quite honest, I don't really know.

I havent played a single game here in Kingston, ON since I moved here. That was like 3 or 4 years ago, IIRC (Im getting old. heh).

But I meant in general.

I like to make a shot sure. That's why when I used to play, I always made a habbit to close the distance first. To make sure my shot was true. Sounds kinda suicidal, but if you do it right, it works. lol. That's what my grandpappi always taught me. He was a veteran.

But all that sorta changes when you enter a competitive shooting arena. There's a certain firing line that you must stay behind. And for the time that your on the range, it's just you and the clock. No one else matters.

But anyways, I digress.

PTWs are something that I have very little experience with. So I suppose I'm out of my element when it comes to that. I've only held and shot them indoors for functionality tests...

When it comes to primary weaponry, WEs and VFCs were always good enough for me. And they were never rifles. lol. Mostly something like in an SMG category. Pistols are kinda my thing. I'm used to CQC so i regard my pistol weaponry as the first weapon of choice to reach for when under duress.

But i digress again...

That is a work of art, congrats as always on the time, money and work it took to pull it off!
Quick question, what camera do you use to take the amazing pictures?
