Vfc m27 iar defect?

so my buddy bought himself a brand new Iar from Huang's and upon the first test shot the hopup feeder snapped and the piston locked, anyone happened this to them?and why the hell did this happen?

full auto on a big battery won't unfreeze the piston? Pull trigger once in full auto if it doesn't come free then you'll need to take the grip off and use a flathead to pry the ARL through the nifty window that vfc puts in their v2s. PPiston locking back could just be unfortunate timing of letting go or feathering the trigger till it gets to the part of the cycle that requires more juice than your battery can provide to turn over the motor due to the amount of force needed to compress the spring more.

If full auto doesn't unstick it, it could be any number of things...

that shitty vfc piston came apart prematurely... I've seen them fail in less than 100 rounds.

Something came apart and jammed the piston.

a gear has lost a tooth and its' jammed in there or part of the piston came off and jammed it.... any gear can fail... every time you pull the trigger on an airsoft gun, you roll the dice for good cycle or break... I don't care what make parts are.. something can and will break. You're smashing metal on metal in there.

Either the piston is a bad cast.. or the gearbox is a bad cast and something is too wide or too narrow. It's been known to happen, but usually not with vfc... though I do have a vfc v2 shell here that's slightly bent.

As for the hopup unit, I have seen a few fail.. not at that spot, but right on the bottom, a couple pieces chip off or whatever off the feed tube. It's not the nicest plastic... which is sad cause it's a REALLY nice hop up unit.

Usually folks who break the hopup in that spot complain about mags being difficult to get locked in, was that the case for your friend?

Whoaaa thats weird. You can probably just return that and get a new one off Huang.

Yeah id return it. Huang is a good guy im sure he will take care of you. Just send him a pm or email.
id also grab a piston and head for it as the stoc piston is polycarb (really brittel) and the head is metal (lots of stress on the GB front) could just be locked as was stated but it also could be a broken tooth or pre engagement.

I remember back when this was a normal 1 in 4 occurrence with AEG's, and the standardized response to a brand new gun breaking in the first mag on ASC was "Welcome to airsoft!" lol
But yeah that sucks. Check for warranty, if not, upgrade parts!

the piston head is fine if you install sorbo and aoe adjust the new piston, up to you which way you want to do it. The cylinder head doesn't take sorbo well though so you'll need to find a cylinder head where you can take the rubber pad off cleanly.
