WE SCAR-L Open Bolt Not Feeding

2 for 2 mags now shimmed and shooting great!

No clue why i need to do this but maybe its just a factory default with my gun in particular.. who knows.. it's airsoft

the mag release is loose as hell and has yet to lock a mag back on empty.. would that be related in any way to the mis-feeding? (i've seen videos on shimming the release to help lock back)

Now that im actually getting to shoot the gun im realizing for the first time that it's actually a great gun and fun to shoot!!

We the mag release is probably giving you issues because of what ever caused the feeding issues. I really wish i could look at it and line it up with my scar to figure out what is going on.

well i shimmed all 5 of my mags and all 5 work beautifully now.

The Bolt Catch issue (sorry not mag release.. that is fine) was an easy fix as well.. the lever on the mags was not pushing up on the bolt catch enough for it to engage the bolt and lock back. I super glued a small piece of credit card to the bolt catch and off we go a locking bolt!

So all in all.. a shim here and a shim there and the gun is working great.

Just weird tho. I have had my scar for 2 years now and 12 mags and never had a problem like that.

Now that just confirms that your mag catch is worn, bent or broken.

You can install real mag catches in all of WE GBBRs.

It is VERY rare that more than 1 mag have the same symptom. Plus your bolt not locking, all point to the single part that does not hold the mags high enough -> mag catch.

For sure it's the Mag Catch ... your right there is no way it's all the mags.. i knew that after i could see that the BB's were sitting too low in the well with every mag.

It's a brand new gun so if there is something wrong with the mag catch then it's a factory flaw.. i guess i can replace it.

The mag shim was an easy solution though and everything is working now. Bought me some time to source a new mag catch anyways.

does RA Tech make a steel mag catch for the Scar?
