Why is it always me? Hk417 problem.
Gamed twice.
Shot a couple of rounds to set up my scope. Set scope, started shooting and all I hear is yeee yeee and then I stopped shooting . Anyone know what this is and / or why this has happened? Starting to get frustrated with these rifles. |

wht kind of 416 is this? Gbbr or (more likely by the sound u discribe) an aeg? Wht brand is it?
seems like (if its an aeg) its either the motor height (the screw is loose or has falen out) or the pinion may be stripped. If its a gbbr i have never heard that sound from one lol

It's a hk 417 VFC aeg. I can't say much because I don't really like to open anything especially when they are new but the motor screw doesn't seem to have moved, I marked where it was when I bought it. Ugh so much for game day tomorrow.
I really need to take the plunge , open a gun up and stop being a bitch I think. Lol Last edited by AnthB; July 5th, 2014 at 13:57.. |

So soon though? I'm always seeing people say they shoot thousands of rounds before they have problems and I'm getting to max , 2-4 k rounds and I'm so gentle with these things. Never hold the trigger on full auto if I'm even on full auto, I have a MOSFET to change my full auto to 3 round burst and I place my gun down rather than throw it. Maybe I have to treat it bad for it to love me back.

There's no such thing as a "life expectancy" when you're slamming little plastic and metal bits against each other.

That's true and it is probably just a plastic stock piston. Oh well.
Started taking apart my cyma ak47 so I can get into that gear box and see what kind of things I'm dealing with. Wish me luck, I'm think I'm going to need it. Any suggestions on a great piston? Also, I have a really nice pdi barrel and was wondering what hop up and bucking work with this gun. Any info will be appreciated. Last edited by AnthB; July 5th, 2014 at 15:29.. |

you're going to war with it.You need to make sure it's going to work. It's not a good context for 'use it till it breaks and bring it to the repair shop'. after you bought it, you open it, and change everything that sucks. There aren't many aeg companies that produce a gun that is 100% upgraded and tweaked right from the start unless it comes from a custom shop like Ehobby's or others.

You need a stronger sector gear just in case. Check the junction of the piston and piston head and make sure it's solid : nut+bolt is the best, screw into plastic is weak. These parts are linked which means if you have a strong piston, and the piston head detaches and jams the mechbox, you might break teeth on the sector gear.

the front of the 417 gearbox was weak when it was first released, I'm not sure if vfc corrected it or not, or if you have the original release gearbox... best to get a new cylinder head and sorbo it at the same time as getting that new piston if that's what broke. The front of the gearbox will crack probably just as easily as a normal v2.
