Magpul PTS PMAGs Not Feeding

I recently bought a few Magpul PTS PMAGs (120rds) and I noticed that they are not feeding consistently in my G&P Troy M7A1.

I only put in around 80 rd into the mag but it only fires 1 BB for every 3 trigger pulls. It starts to feed consistently only if I push the mag further up into the magwell.

Anyone know of any solutions?

The claw that holds the BBs down in the magazine might need to be filed down a little. Very carefully take off enough material to hold the BBs in, too much and you run the risk of ruining the magazine.

It could also be a mag well issue in that they need more pressure to maintain a good position but I would try the above first.

Had a similar issue with the beta project ones I sanded down the top of the feed tube on the mag so it would sit higher cause it was sitting slightly to low to begin with

Do NOT sand down the lip, it'll potentially cause issues for you later on when you want to switch guns.

Get a new mag catch. It's a common issue with G&P M4s.

Do you know which mag catch will work? I already replaced the original G&P match catch with a DBOYS ambig mag release. Both have the same issue

I think I solved the problem.

The PMAG is too loose in my magwell but feeds perfectly if I push the PMAG forward. I will shim with a piece of velcro on the back of the magwell.

I am just surprised at the intolerances between different magazines and magwells. 1mm can be a big difference....

it's airsoft.. I'm not surprised. But yeah, ALWAYS try the least destructive method first.

Dont do this, I've ''repaired'' a lot of M4 types that had that exact same issue, you've been givien the answer already, it really is the mag catch in the magwell.

There are some cheap ambi ones for 15$ available.

The reason your mag is not sitting properly is simply because the mag catch does not go far enough into the small square hole on the top of the mag.

Buy a new one, problem will be solved.

If you dont want to buy one, ask someone you know who has a classic army he upgraded to an ambidextrous mag release and it will resolve your problem.

No more messing around with stupid shimming velcro on each mag. Not only does that look stupid but it does not work well when it gets used or worst, it unsticks.

Like stated before you have been given the answer here :

I will add that it's also a common problem with some G&G M4/M16 types.
