Maybe the reason helical gears work out is because in well-shimmed situations they may be cancelling each other's axial influences out.

Regarding the spring, I'm pretty sure it was an ACM spring, mainly because it's a short spring and almost all my short springs come from gutted ACM guns.

I don't want to write an essay on how the forces work on my POS blackberry, but I'm pretty sure the forces generated just aren't significant enough to cause a blowout
In order to cancel out forces on a helical gear, you need to be using herringbone gears, and there's just no room for them in an AEG.
I'm REALLY surprised nobody else has switched to planetary gears yet actually
