Question re: WE Hi-Capa 5.1 Versions

I'm not into CQB, but I will be putting 2,000 rounds through the gun in about a month. I only use AS to practice for RS IPSC matches, and the Tanfo is close enough to my CZ SP-01 Shadow, it even fits the holster.

I thought I have time to shop around for a new AS, but looks like my Tanfo is either dead or dying: the slide no longer returns to battery after a shot.

TM's are very accurate out of the box. You should be expecting a couple inch groups at 6-7m.

Ouch. While 2" groups may be OK for CQB, they aren't good for IPSC. Engaging my 4" plate rack would become a hit & miss. My Tanfoglio was giving me 1"-1.5" groups and I wasn't happy. My buddy - we bought our Limited Custom pistols at the same time - claims 1cm groups at 7m. And he didn't have to fiddle with sight adjustment and hop-up. Can't say I really believe him, but still, it does make me envious.

Is Hi-Capa's trigger like the 1911 trigger in RS, with almost no pre-travel & no travel? This might also be a problem for me: I need the trigger action to be similar to my CZ Shadow RS. Tanfoglio AS was close enough.

Ok I didn't know you wanted that specific. If you put it in a vise....it might shoot through nearly the same hole. TM's are really good.
And yes a Hicapa's trigger is pretty good. It's not going to be as good as a real one, but fairly good enough. I used to own an STI Edge.

Thanks! Is the trigger feel similar to RS 1911s, like almost no travel and very short reset?

The TM hi CAPA is known to be one of the most accurate airsoft pistols ever made.The hopup is unbeatable by any other clone.Most new TM's you can run propane in no problem aswell.

You should easily be able to consistently put shots in to a 3 cm hole at 7m, when shooting a brand new out of the box TM GBB.

With a few upgrades, you can tighten that up dramatically.

Exactly the same. Most of the mechanics are very similar, specifically for the TM 1911/Hi-Capa series.

You might want to check out the TM XDM. Similar style trigger, and ergonomic grip. Obviously, there are differences in the platforms, but hopefully, that might point you in the direction you're looking for.

These are awesome groups, as good or better as I'd get from my fully tuned RS Shadow. I assume XDM would give similar results?

Ironically, I do have a RS XDM-40, but was never crazy about the ergonomics. And, it wouldn't fit into the holster I use for the Shadow.

Keep in mind, that the photo of the grouping which I'd posted above, was from a highly tuned Hi-Capa. The grouping with a stock gun would be a bit wider, but at 7m, the difference would be minimal, if even noticeable. Ammunition also makes a huge difference. Notice that I was using 0.30g Marui Superior Grade BB's in that test. Shooting 0.20g BB's would have a dramatically different result, even at 7m.

I can consistently hit a 4" popper at 10m with a stock Marui GBB. In general, ANY Tokyo Marui GBB will be able to get groupings similar to each other, across the entire product line - given some basic similarities (ie, barrel length.)

Only at longer distances, are the differences in groupings much more apparent. I'm still able to consistently hit targets with my tiny Detonics, despite it's shorter barrel and shorter sight radius compared to almost all other GBB's in the entire Marui line up.

Another gun that has a somewhat similar ergonomic grip to the CZ Shadow, may be the PX4. That's actually a really nice feeling pistol, and is one of my favorites. In the hand, it feels the nicest amongst all of Marui's GBB's.
