Cybergun Magpul Masada Issue - Overheating?

I would have dished out the extra cash for the Magpul PTS version, however the Cybergun/A&K version has a ver.2 gearbox while the Magpul PTS version doesn't. I would prefer to have something break and be able to replace it then to have something break then be left with a big paper weight.

That reason, plus I didn't like the placement of the charging handle on the Magpul PTS version...

Awh I disagree the placement on the PTS version is sooo much more ergonomic.

Perhaps, however for my preferences I do prefer the A&K's charging handle placement. I don't really like reaching for the charging handle, I just prefer for it to be right there ready to go.

Not knocking the PTS version as it is a piece of art to say the very least, I just don't like how it is set up. It certainly is functional, and there are numerous pros to having the charging handle forward on the upper receiver. I just find that having the charging handle in the center of the Masada opposed to the front works for me. However I do shoot lefty, so that could contribute to the reason why.

Regardless, this is airsoft, there isn’t much use for the charging handle here (Aside from moving it to adjust the hop-up, and feeling like a total badass when you pull it back, click the bolt release, and listen to that “click”)

well just as people suggested before, and what you said, it runs a ver 2 gearbox, so its extremely easy to interchange, why would u not do it right off the bat? from what ive experienced, all ACM companies VER2 gearboxes suck out of the box.

from what i remember, I had an A&K masada before the big cybergun/magpul licencing problems with A&K and the grease was just nasty. my brother had to regrease the whole damn thing, twas one nasty Son of a bitch. and during that time, G&P actually had a custom G&P upgraded version for a limited time, those were the ones that ran way better than the A&K gearbox versions

Dude I'm a southpaw myself. And I wouldn't call like a foot infront of you well within arms breath 'reaching'.

And IDK about you but I do real reloading drills so a functional charging handle and placement means allot to me. But then again I'm weird ^^ Best of luck in the future.

I would have changed the spring right out of the box. However, that would have voided the warranty, and I’m kind of happy that I didn’t open the gear box up simply because of what happened. Sure, I had to pay either way (Warranty or not), however at least I had somebody to go to that I know would fix the problem. Besides, it’s best to have broken under warranty then to have broken just after it. Regardless, I’ll slowly be upgrading the internals piece by piece as things break.

Well, I do see your point there...

And I do tend to drill reloading on a regular basis as well. Like I said (And I am paraphrasing here) a functional charging handle and bolt catch is pretty awesome, I'm not going to lie about that. I guess that with the A&K Masada it will be a bit of a learning curve if I ever have the real steel version in hand. However that is highly doubtful, and there isn't much of an adjustment to be made in handling the real steel Masada versus the A&K Masada... As far as the charging handles placement goes at least.

Okay, just updating on the Masada's situation.

I received it in the mail a few days ago, put about 500 BB's through it and it is running perfectly fine with the downgraded spring and the 9.6v 1600mAh battery. My only complaint is that the safety is a little loose, however I'll figure how to fix that on my own.

Now, I have a few questions...

One, is it safe to wrap a battery in black electrical tape? The one I have is blue and it is visible through the forward section of the Masada, so I hope the tape will resolve the visibility issue. In addition to that, it is a nunchuck battery so fiddling with 2 sticks is a pain in the butt.

Secondly, I was looking through eHobbyAsia and saw that the Magpul PTS P-Mag 120s are only $19.80 per mag if I buy 8 or more (and I plan to buy 10). That is quite a good deal compared to the $27-$38 per mag in Canada. Now, my question is, can I import the mags without a problem from customs? I know that they should be fine to come across our boarders as they are only airsoft. Plus they do not have the window with the fake bullets visible, however I wish to know if anybody has had any personal experiences with this kind of thing.

And finally, I picked up a Magpul PTS P-Mag 120 from a local surplus store to test it out. After loading it and going about 10 rounds into the mag, it started to misfeed. The mag feeds fine when I hold it upside down, however there is an issue otherwise. I've tried pushing the mag upwards into the Masada, and moving it every which way to see if it needs to be shimmed, but that makes no difference in the misfeeding. Any idea of what is going on here, or of how to fix it?

Any answers/help will be much appreciated.

You can wrap batteries with electrical tape. A battery operates on a chemical process. Wrapping it in tape will not inhibit that process.

P-Mags are importable. I've done it. Others have done it. Totally cool to do. E-Mags, however, are not.

Did you lube the magazine and work its spring a bit? It may be binding along the BB channel. Some silicon spray down the feed tube should help the spring move more freely.
