I recently bought the Echo para . Its been upgraded to meet Canadian laws. Was wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the rate of fire, it seems really slow to me. The gun came with what looks like some kind of tool to adjust something. The instructions dont show anything, in fact they suck...Any help would be appreciated

Rate of fire is very influenced by the voltage of your batterie. Next you have the gear ratio, type of motor and the strenght of your spring.

If your goal is a "realsim ROF", try to have 750–1,000 rounds per minute (reference wikipedia).

It's slow because of 3 things...and changing one will affect the others and ultimately your ROF.

1. Small battery...mini batteries and small cells (2/3A) cannot sustain high drain levels
- try a LiPo/LiFe battery
2. Crappy-ish motor...it's not the greatest
- change to a good motor (short neck) that can pull a stiff spring at a higher RPM
- changing to a better motor will demand more power (see #1)
3. You're pulling a very stiff spring...the stiffer the spring, the harder the motor works to pull it. If the motor is designed/spec'd for a lesser spring...it will use more power and work harder to pull a heavier spring = lower ROF
- downgrade to a weaker spring

Beware of going for a very high ROF in a SAW...your boxmag has to be able to keep up with it a feed BBs fast enough. You may find yourself modding your box mag too.

getting a better large 9.6v battery or a lipo should create a noticeable improvement.

First thing first, down grade the sprind to sit around 380 fps so you can actually game it. This will increase the rof as well. Use a 9.6V battery instead of an 8.4.


A rof of 17 bbs per second is a very good and realistic rate of fire for a saw.

I have the same gun and threw a TM Turbo 3000 motor and 120 spring in it to boost the ROF, works like a charm.

The spring that's in there is a madbull m140 (pink one) it's a little too stiff for the motor to pull properly hence the slow rate of fire, it should come with a spare spring in the box the spare spring is a 350fps one. Also try shoving a 9.6v in it, stock A&K/Echo1 gearboxes cant take lipo.

I"m working on a new A&K M249. I like the quick spring change feature.

I don't like the gobs of vaseline inside the gearbox that came from the factory, I don't like the lousy air nozzle, piston head, piston, cylinder head, motor is sub par. (end rant)

Long story short Read Tys post (#2) if you want to adjust the RoF.

Weaker spring, M100-110
More powerful motor, G&P 120-160, Eagleforce Hummer 1300, Tienly F5000
More powerful Batteries IE 9.6 sub C 5000mah, 12v 2/3a, or 11.1-14.8v lipo

I personally think a SAW should be a BB Hose, 17-25 BPS is what everyone else is shooting with their rifles. A realistic RoF would be around 750-1000RPM, but that would put you at a severe disadvantage for what should be a squad support weapon. Personally, seeing everyone else shoot 17-25, I would want my SAW/RPK to be in the 38-45BPS range at ~380.

That reminds me. Does anyone have any links to how to modify the Hopup? It's absolutely awful. You need to have the thing basically cranked before you get any results. My Google fu is failing.

Your ammo capacity may be great but in a 1:1 your weapon is more difficult to maneuver, has poor ergonomics and has the same ROF? This is Airsoft suppression is rounds down range. In 2 seconds if i unload 30 bb's vs 100 what is more effective suppression all things being equal?

I see why in some places in the states Squad support weapons are permitted to go up to 500fps, sniper rifles 450

Replace the nub inside the hopup chamber with the tip of the white part of a pen (where the ink is stored) cut a piece about the same size as the hopup nub and it should fix the shitty hopup problem. Whats happening is that the original hopup nub actually sits on it's side and when you crank the hopup up all it's doing is smushing it. The replacement is hard plastic so it doesn't smush and keeps a nice seal.
