Ring behind flash hider...

Hey

I have a G&P mk18 Mod 0 front set on my primary. I want to change the triangle sight to a folding one, but I ran into a problem: This metal ring behind the flash hider. It's big enough to stop the triangle sight from sliding off. Any ideas what it is/how to remove it?

that a crush washer and it looks like that type thatis folded down behind the threads and you may have to bend it to get it off or unscrew it. Try lifting it up with a flat blade screw driver under it and then apply pressure and unscrew it

Use pliers. Normally, it should come right off.

I found some big ass pliers and yanked the shit out of it and it eventually came off. I do not see the point of this thing...

On the real thing, it allows you to torque the flash hider to the barrel without damaging the threading. In airsoft, you could do the same thing... but it's just there to give the appearance of being like the real thing...

You better put it back on or you won't be able to hit shit! That's the ring of awesomeness.

The one on my M4 is spring loaded, supposed to keep the tension on the flash hider I think? Doesn't help really..

On the real rifle, it acts as a lock washer.

On the airsoft, it usually is a loose fit over the threads and spring loaded, to simulate the same thing and keep the look.

If you have the set screw under your hider, you don't need it. It's basically there for looks.
