Well I got myself a set of these but I did something fun with them...I ripped them apart and modified them. Still the monocule cyclopes look but it is now housed in a waterproof Metal casing with 2 (1 removable, 1 fixed) Polycarbinate lense for damage protection. I also have modified the power supply to run a NiMH pack instead of AA's. Also I fooled around with the IR illuminators and made them on a seperate switch allowing me to turn them on or off so I don't stand out. I also changed the main focusing lense with a slightly convex lense to enhance the Depth Perception so now, with a little practice, I am able to manuver just as well with them on. All in all, cost me about an extra $100 plus some tinker time, but they are much better then what came with the Game. They have been field tested and work a hell of a lot better too. I get about 75 feet of sight with them. and yes they have been shot and droped and stepped on and still work

So if you have the time, the knowledge, and the patience then it is well worth doing. Great for airsoft gaming and recon.

You look like a unicorn with that on.

I am not familiar with airsoft.

What my question is, does the element of surprise work on a typical airsoft match?

HAHAHA! this thread is gold. i got my prestige edition too. yes, im a COD fanatic. can you tell? lol unicorn gattling coffee machine face...pretty good description id say lol. i did the whole running around the house with them on too and it didnt work out too well, went outside and couldnt see well past 3 feet...its heavy as hell and wobbles on your head like no tomorow....just a horrible idea...now im not talking for Wolver!ne, kos he tinkered with them....but generally...these arent NVGs. period. just camera with IR pick-up and IR bulbs and fancy housing too look pretty....sort of.

Actually, I was considering putting the internals of an EyeClops (so the same as that) into a PVS-14 dummy. That wouldn't be really expensive (EyeClops can be found at ~40$ and the dummy at 32$ shipped). That wouldn't be a real NVG, but could still be some use and would be better than an empty dummy.

And... I wouldn't have the guts to try that with a real NVG, even if it's a 150$ Gen1^^

I had Clueless pick up for me the Eyeclops V2 NV and plan on doing some mods (first off gutting the fugly casing of the actual electronics package). I had thought of doing something similar to what Conker planned with his (I'll have to PM him to see how successful he was).

Currently it is ziptied to an old pair of PB goggles I have floating around and it isnt horrible running on passive illumination but the 5 AAs add a tonne of weight.

Almost bought the game along with the goggles, but i waited for the review and thankfully i didn't buy it cause the game is full of bugs and glitches. Can't play for 6 months because of the election period (gunban) so i'm stuck inside playing console games and collecting more weapons and gear.

I gamed these goggles a couple of weeks back at a CQB game, wore them over my paintball goggles, I have to say that they were decently useful, i got a few kills with them on, using a pistol in one hand, and my other hand out so i dont run into walls. Its damn near impossible to aim down rifle sights or a RDS with these on however.
On a semi-related note, I was thinking of making a Heartbeat sensor style setup out of these with a foldaway screen. I think you could probably mod a mag light to take a IR LED, so that you can focus the IR light farther, to get more range out of it.

If you want to be a ninja, dress all in black, use these goggles and only a knife. That would be l33tness.

no need to modify a flashlight, just buy an IR filter for one. Surefire makes them.
