Buying first load out? Tips

Choosing a loadout can be daunting for a new player. New terms and new products, all with a purpose and yet so confusing with all sorts of prices. For ease of things I'm only goona say you get what you pay for so don't get something cheap (I'm also goona exclude goggles, masks, radios and any links to items). But what does one need? And is there a purpose to choose one or the other? Yes, yes there is.
For decades us men have known of a terrible battle that plags the lives of small children here in north america. The battle of the 'Evil Tan' and the 'Green Army of Death' is legend.
When I got started up I went for the 'Green Army of Death' and purchased an OD MOLLE vest to go over some Flectarn BDUs. Thats it any game I can join green side, done. Now I plan to get an 'Evil Tan' set up with a Coyote brown vest and multicam BDU (most agree multicam is classified as tan). That will be all the kit I can handle and it will open up a spot on either team for me. This is a good move to make if one plans to stick to this sport, it allows for you to be flexible with a host.

For new players it seems that the vests/holsters seem to be a huge confusion as far as buying something goes, first thing is to get your measurements. Best bet is an army surplus store or tac shop, try things on and ask questions about everything. The worst thing you can do is buy and find out its not all you thought it was because you did not ask. Try web gear if a vest is to bulky or a plate carrier if you want some extra padding, these choices are key to your mobility and efficiency on the field all based around your role.

Try to test all holsters with your set up and your side arm. This is something I learned with music equipment, you can't expect your stuff to be on hand at stores and you can't expect your stuff to work if you tested with there stuff. Drop leg holsters are for the most part worn too low by players and they are likely to chaff if to low, remember tightly secured to your body is your goal. Some like to have it on the vest or on a belt, work with it and find out what is best (draw weapon repeatedly from different stances) for you.

A method of hydration is a must, canteen or bladder and if you really have to a water bottle. Fatigue is not something you will go without but it should not be combined with dehydration, we play hard and you don't want to get sick all over your gear. Also a snack of some sort in a pocket can really be a god send.

Boots, good boots. With ankle support and either drains water or is water tight, according to your situation/location. We all got to walk after the game so don't but that at risk. I tore through a brand new pair of timberland hiking shoes last year because I thought they were tough enough (they also stink like creek water and feet). Someday fields will put safety rules on footwear... Or at least I hope (seen a pair of nikes on the field).

Headgear should match camo and not need to be taken off (so it best be comfortable) so that bugs can't get in your hair. Tree lice, ticks and even just burrs or seeds can get in your hair and cause unneeded stress. I brought home moths last season and it was a bitch killing them off but at least I didn't need no special shampoo!

The Battle Dress Uniform, or BDU is goona be your biggest choice and yet the most influenced by others and other factors. Its all about you and yet its all about the terrain, and yet it hinges on your team. No team? Not a problem, go by terrain. Get a good look at the field you play at during the seasons of play. Your first set of camo should be usable during all seasons and best during the longest of them. If you plan on two set ups get the opposite in terms of 'Green Army of Death' or 'Evil Tan' to allow you some more options for other games.

Please post your pics or links for recomended items. Try and keep your recomendations to quality items only. Ask questions if you need advice. Lots of places to show off gear but lets try and make this a thread to explain things like MALICE clips to new members.

When I started I had the problem of not being constant, I bought a belt loadout (ACM, enough but not very nice) and kept buyong other things by whims... bad idea.

My recomendation for starters is to buy some quality molle gear(pantac/flyye) as it is very flexible, a molle belt and some pouches for mags and a medium utility pouch, and thats all, I wouldnt even recomend a holster as you can use a mag pouch or not even use a secondary (I dont use them after 2 years of games XD)

So with this, just keep playing and buying stuff as you need it, dont make my mistake and buy compulsively, I have now sold most of my gear except the pantac PC, pouches and my first light loadout (90%ACM)

As con murder said, colours just depends on the place you play and BDU
