lubing clarification
I know you should grease the gears from time to time, but it's not so comfortable to open the gearbox every time.
Does it help to spray silicone oil inside the gearbox? This can be done easier using a small tube without opening the gun/gearbox. |

you only need to do this about once every 1-2 years depending on use. pay a gun doc to do it if your not comfortable.

I don't think you'd want to do that. I don't think silicone oil is for metal on metal applications, I could be wrong but it doesn't seem like you'd want to use it for metal on metal applications period. Try lithium grease (AKA "white grease"?) instead. If you really want to do it "DamageInc" is the guy to talk to about AEG work (assuming you're in Vancouver like you username implies).

If you plan on your AEG to last many years, you will AT LEAST be shimming the gears- in which case you will be opening the mechbox for that. Re-grease it then. I personall y recommend Super Lube- a premium silicone based grease.
