Looking for a review of KA M4 AEGs

I've been scouring the 'net the last couple weeks looking for some reviews for their series of AEGs (Specifically the CQBR). I've found a review of a KA on Arnies, and a couple of really vague ones on Youtube (including the Airsoft GI one) But I have no idea if it's the same quality level (thinking CA Sportsline vs Proline kind of deal)

My intent is to use it as an indoor AEG/PDW when I don't need my longer, magnified rifle.

Some first hand experience or some useful reviews would be awesome (none of those stupid "Here's the mag catch, here's the trigger" "reviews")

Here's a link to it on EhobbyAsia; obviously I'm not getting it from there but I'm not going to post links to retailers in this section.

I did a review of the CQB A3 which is their first gen m4s quite a while back, no shooting review or chrony review cuz i did tons of upgrades on that thing. But KA makes one of the best stock m4s out there for its price

Hello,
I have one KA M4A1 (the basic one you can buy here) and I am happy with.
Out of the box, it was too strong for me (385 fps /0.20) and the sound was a bit weird so I downgraded it. But played 3 games with and it was pretty nice, grouping was ok and distance too, not the best AEG ever but great for the price.
Exterior is very good quality, metal parts are nice, plastic ones too. The receiver color is particular, looks like a bit bronze dark grey. But I like it. Compatible with most external pieces, even RS I think ( need to be confirmed) . For the moment I just put a LaRue rail and another flashhider.
The inside is nice too, pretty good quality, reinforced gearbox.
There is 7mm metal bearing, good quality gears, piston/piston head sounds really ok (POM) but I replaced it because... you know... I wanted to do it
The spring guide is plastic , so you can change it for a metal one with bearing. This is in fact the only thing you should change.
Cylinder is a basic one too. Cylinder head is good too, with a good plastic nozzle.
It is a good AEG for the price (payed 350 shipped), full metal with nice and real markings. No regrets at all.
Hope it helps.

Peace out'

Btw, did you tried ICS M4s?
If you are not looking to tune your external (read :RAS - but it is possible -) then it is a great way to go.
A bit more expensive but easier to upgrade/modify/repair, and very good out of the box.
My 2 cents,

I've never owned an ICS, but I've known some people that have, and my problems with the split mechbox is that it seems rather easy for dirt/water to get in there, and the idea of proprietary parts really scares me. The idea of having a weapon that can easily be repaired by standard parts is a great comfort to me.

Are those fears unfounded?

About proprietary parts, the gearbox shells and the receiver(upper and lower) are differents from standard market pieces. Then the first gear too if I remember correctely.
The rest is 99.99% compatible. You can check on the ICS M4 thread to be sure.
About the externals, you will have no problem to adapt sights, scopes, stocks (with little modifications though for some). The RAS are a bit pain in the arf to install if not ICS, you will, most of the time, have to adapt it to your receiver. And about finding a new metal receiver... it is impossible to get one as spare part.
If those two things aren't bothering you, then think about it.
And about dirt and water, I never had anything coming inside the shells from the exterior.
But hey I don't want to mess you with this
KA M4 are good too, but I love the split ICS mechbox. Really.
I had some issues with hop up once and in the middle of the field, I fixed it in 5 minutes.
And you can have two upper mechbox, one for cqb (less than 350fps) and one for exterior (more than 350fps). Changed in 30 sec. ^__^
Sorry again to mess up your ideas !
Go in the ICS M4 thread and see if it could fit yourself

Cheers,

f.
