Piranha Digital Peak Charger Help :(

Recently got one, never used anything other than a wall-charger. Anyway, I'm obviously not familiar with the setup. Figured I'd ask here before I destroy the little bugger.

My battery is an Intellect 8.4v 1600mAh NiMH battery. On the individual cells, it says 2/3V-1600 High Drain Type.

Battery Type: NiMH, knew that.
Capacity: 1600mAh, knew that too.
Current: By default it was set at 3.0A. Should I change this? If so, what to?
Peak: 6mV/C. I have no idea what this is or what it should be set to.

Just the last two I don't know what to set to. Any help?

I have that charger as well so you're in luck

With a mini pack, use 1A or lower. You CAN use up to the same amperage (for yours 1.6A) if you want a fast charge, but monitor it and if it starts getting hot (warm is ok) then disconnect it. But I wouldn't do 1.6A very often, only if you're in a hurry.
You can use 2A or 3A with a large pack.

Set the sensitivity to 8mV/cell with NiMH and 6mV/cell with NiCD.

Thanks a lot

Was about to ask the heat question next, since the bugger got real hot real fast last night, but I'm quite sure it's fully charged now.

I used to have one of those. That's a really nifty charger.

Sorry Styrak.

Mini packs are safe from 1.2 to 2A. Actually, it is better to charge NiMh packs closer to the maximum because it gives the pack more punch (faster trigger response without any change).

Charge your pack with theses settings.

If you notice that the pack becomes CONSIDERABLY hot (quick test: Put it on the inside of your forearm, right on the skin. If you can't leave it there, it is too hot), change the Delta-V setting to 5mV/c.

If the pack stays very cold, rise it to 7mV/c.

Your pack should be just warm when fully charged.

High quality large packs (3800mAh or above) can take 3.5 to 4A. Very good packs (100+$ a piece for a 4200-4600mAh pack) can hold 6A no problem.

Sorry for the bump, but my question is relevant to the topic.

I have two sets of batteries.
1 stock battery that came with the gun - NIHM 1100mah 8.4V 2/3A. I'm using these settings with it
Current : 1.5A
Peak : 7mV/c

2 Elite 1500 NIHM 1500mah 8.4V 2/3A
Current : 1.5A
Peak 7mV/c

Are these settings alright?
What is the trickle charge also? 100?

Your settings are good.

Trickle at 100 is ok too, usually it is abour 5-10% or the capacity. But if you unplug your pack when it sings, it does not change anything.

Well I charged all three packs today, and played around abit with the settings. I left the Peak at 5mV/c, otherwize, packs were becoming really hot (Could hardly keep them in the inside of the forearm)

But yeah, noobie question here : With NIHM packs, no need to discharge. If I play around for 2 hours with a fully charged 1500mah pack. Let's say I used 300 mah in the pack, meaning there's 1200 mah left. Will the charger add another 1500 mah on top of the previous 1200, or will stop after 300 mah?

It will stop by itself.

Even when the pack is "empty", it won't be a full 1500mAh. You can see the actual capacity on the screen when charging.

No, that's the whole point and good thing about smart chargers, they stop when your battery is full and don't damage it.
