I found these while googling. This should help many people clear up their minds and answers about SRC's quality which is talked all over the forum. You can compare both sites to see the improvements and changes from the last generation of G36 which is really great. I hope this helps guys because i know a lot of us are too lazy to google the infos ....

Wondering why that link is even there. That's a Gen II G36... How is it relevant to the available products? It will just confuse people.. and comparing it to a JG ... come on.

Yeah Ken has worked hard with SRC to produce the Gen III line so keep it to that.

Sinnce everybody is so hyped up about G36s I heard the new Marui one should be coming out in the next little while :P

Not new, been there since 1996. They quality can be sum upbas in
gen 1 worse than jg
gen 2 average aeg
gen 3 above average

How is that confusing? I specified it was SRC G36 II gen , this tells us how they were in comparaison with JG with the 2nd generation ... then if you check the 3rd generation, you can notice a difference. This helps extremely a lot.

actually SRC gen3 have been out for awhile... just not as popular as other brands... because in the past their gen 1 guns were complete Lemons.....

Sorry to bring back an old thread but at least its not that old. Decided to post this here instead of making a new thread.

Bought an SRC Gen3 G36K from Ken a little while ago (about a month after he got them in stock.) Great guy, great service, can't complain about the transaction.

The gun itself I CAN complain about...

-hopup didn't work out of the box, tried reassembling it with a new rubber and still doesn't work. Also its non-standard so JG/CA/TM/Prowin parts WILL NOT WORK.
-axle on the spur gear snapped in two after less than 500rnds. Half of it popped out so the gear was running at an angle, stripped my piston somehow.
-pretty much zero airseal. I do a standard compression test and the force required to push the piston is no different than when my thumb is not over the nozzle end.

I am looking into getting a new hopup unit only to find that this thing also uses a non-standard magwel, nozzle, and cylinder head. I now need to order new parts for that as well as the hopup unit and piston. Also swapping out the bearings for bushings since I have never run bushings, even 8mm in a 300fps gun, without having them blow out within 2500rnds (thankfully Modify now makes solid 8mm bushings.)

Other than these two problems with the basic function of the AEG, I am somewhat impressed with how far SRC has come since I worked on one five or so years back. The list of problems with that M4A1 (no idea if it was a gen1 or gen2) was as long as my arm; nothing in it worked right.

Again, this has nothing to do with Ken or 007 airsoft. He is a great guy that gives absolutely A+ service. I haven't contacted him since even if there is a warranty I would prefer to swap to more standard parts (TM compatible) and I figure if he needs to send it away (to HK, Taiwan, whatever) for warranty stuff I can do it quicker myself.

I'm hoping I can swap the hopup, magwell, nozzle, and cylinder head to TM compatible parts and it will work. I hope nothing else about it is weird.

What's a newb to do who wants an amazing AEG and isn't mechanically inclined and doesn't want to fiddle with gears, hopups, etc etc?

Still waiting for AV to get processed to scan the sellers -- but so far I'm thinking I may need to fork big $ and get a Systema PTW Max up front.

I stuck in all internals and found out a normal cylinder head and nozzle will work, the differences are quite small. Even with a CA hopup unit, new internals, and a modified magwell to work with the standard hopup it would only feed while upside down. I just ordered a Prometheus barrel, hopup unit, and a CA G36/M4 magwell so hopefully I can get it working.

SystemA PTW's have their own pros and cons and are not problem free (occasional problems with rain or water, bad motors, chopping BB's to powder, piston heads falling off the pistons, and a few others.) Generally they are for people who want realism above all else since on a performance per dollar scale its not a great deal. They are awesome guns in terms of regular airsoft guns but you can get just as good for a lot less if you aren't interested in the realism.

I am fully expecting PTW fanboys to pop in now and tell me how wrong I am, but meh. And yes I have owned a PTW.

If you are looking for a G36 the Classic Army version is the best in my opinion but I have never owned an ARES/STAR one but have heard good things. If you have a local gun doc they should have some recommendations for a setup that is reliable and at the fps level you want and can do the work for a small-ish fee usually.
