She's a beauty bud, I can't wait to put it through its paces! Actually, I can't wait for mine to show up! These are definitely a step up from your "rape-shed" photos.

WE AKs-74. Real steel plum handguards and pistol grip, RA-tech internals. All credit and a lot of thanks go to Latvian for acquiring and assembling!

Midwest Industries. Its very similar in design with the Troy one, but I am not sure why I like how it looks more than the Troy one. Its also a bit cheaper...

The only time you'll need to channel the good dr. Frankenstein is when you're putting on the gas tube. The AKM and AK74 have similar receivers and a high degree of parts compatibility, so you're really just punching out pins and then hammering them back in again. I didn't do any of the work myself though, Latvian had already put the gun up for sale in the classifieds, and I contracted him to acquire the soviet parts and to replace the WE railed gas tube with a part from LCT. So if you want the dirty details I would PM him. His response times and quality of work are superb and I highly recommend him.

Nice....I should have you paint my gun...lol
Do you like using a vertical grip with AKs? With RVG at least I find them to be kinda in the way for the curvy -47 style mag... |

No prob - next time your in town, bring one of your builds and I will paint it.
In regard to the vertical grip on the AK - I find the stubby works great, but it has to be positioned far enough forward so there is no trouble with mag changes. I use the vert grip more of a hand stop/reference point. I also removed the bottom screw cap of the stubby grip to make it even shorter. ak shooting aug 16 - YouTube
