In Winter's defense, I don't think it was really necessary for all of this. if you want people to respect the sport and the site, flaming just does nothing. I don't think it was "a stupid redundant question", and if it was, this is a forum, where questions are meant to be asked. I understand how many noobs will come onto ASC and potentially pretend they are what they are not, but he just had a question. He wasn't coming onto the site saying "oh, by the way, airsoft SUCKS ass and everyone on this site is gay"...

Edit: Bgrail, perhaps if your noob had read the FAQ section and even slightly the posts that he claimed to read, he wouldve known that his question was redundant and stupid cuz it says clearly, having your PAL doesnt count for anything to own or buy airsoft and infact mixing the two can bring you under closer scrutiny from the police.

Yes, that does make sense. But just because he didn't understand something, do we really have to have 3 pages of flaming? I can see why people are always upset about noobs, but can't you see what the flaming is doing? First, you flame someone about a question you don't like. Then, everyone starts beating on them, until they back off. Then people start arguing about what they said until the post is closed, and someone gets banned for getting a bad image from the community because of the topic. I have seen these posts too many times on many sites, and they do nothing but waste people's time.

we have rules, and the rules say no underaged airsoft, if you guys want to have kids over to your field, that's your choice

the kid appeared to display some sense of entitlement because of his PAL thing, which is why he was treated the way he was, his smartass comments didn't help either.

Please do not lump myself and others in with burningashes as he was the only one that mentioned the whole gangbanger thing, we both share the same opinion, but his statements were slightly more aggressive than mine.

The whole pedo thing is just some internet humour and a play on the whole PAL "pal" thing, sorry if it went over your head

There was a time when if you came here with any kind of attitude you got ripped to shreds. Now that ASC has gone soft for good (and bad) reasons, people go all white knight on percieved trolls because they think everyone who comes here has a sacred right to a pleasant and warm welcome.

Not true. This may be a private forum with it's rules and limits to free speech, but that does not in any way oblige people to bend over backwards to please others who come here with dead horse subjects like the acquisition of guns by minors.

Just as you can say "ignore newb topics if you can't bear them", you could always say "ignore "rude" responses if you can't bear them".

One of the reasons this hobby survived is the perceived seriousness of the community to police it's own and new members. Slack too much and allow anyone in, and someone else might come in and police you.
