As someone new reading up on the sport, I find this debate pretty helpfull. I was thinking of using a PB mask for my first games (since I already own 2 masks) but now i hear about the shemagh, this might be a more comfortable option. One of things I hate the most with PB is you can't use any sights or irons or even like up the gun properly.

I think I'm gonna keep a big wad of gum in my mouth until I can get a mouth guard...

That photo is captioned incorrectly. It should read:
"Results of uneducated fuckheads engaging targets from unsafe distances with improper instruction and flagrant disregard for safety or the personal well being of the persons they're playing with" |

Yup, I took bb on the top of the ear and the trigger finger from an upgraded gun last game (from a reasonable distance). Neither hits left a mark on me, so yeah what he^ said. Shouldn't have any problems without a mask as long as the people you play with aren't ridiculous.

if ur worried about ur teeth, use a mouth guard, i usually have my ghillie on n it softens the bbs impact wen i get hit in the face, jus a idea.

I wear Wiley's and once you cut away some of the foam they are great. they still fog some for me but i have that problem with most goggles. Apply some of that Fogtech crap and they are good to go. Ive been shot in the mouth a few times and am lucky no tooth damage.

I was just curious if anyone here who cycles has used one of these: http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_d...34374302692237? It looks like it would cover your mouth fairly effectively without getting in the way too much. Has anyone tried this product(or something similar) for airsoft at all? This resembles the half-face neoprene mask(http://topchamp.en.alibaba.com/produ...Face_Mask.html) you can find around hiking shops, but this one is layered with filters, so it'd probably protect more, right?
I didn't want to start a new thread for such a quick question, and this seemed to be the most appropriate place to ask. Don't flame me too badly for resurrecting a 10-month-dead thread. ^_^ |

There are airsoft versions of these masks from half face to full face:

Thanks for the links! ^_^
It looks like those might heat up quickly(I think someone posted the full face mask a few pages back and complained about the condensation from heavy breathing). I like the idea of the cycling mask as it covers the important bits and is still breathable. The cheaper model also has smaller holes. At first inspection, it looks like it'll deflect or absorbe most of the shock of a BB hit, but you're right. It's possible a BB could still smash its way in through the holes and the filter. I'll do some more research into it all and if it looks like a worthwhile venture, I'll post back here. |
