I plan on crawling ALOT. So i'll have my hydration under the ghillie, then a battle belt/ belt with 3 APS mags, radio, my Mk23 socom, and perhaps an admin pouch somewhere back there for snacks and BB's.
Tomorrow at the Sniper Clinic down here, i plan to rough it up a bit, add some local vegetation, and see how long i can last on the bound. :P My sniping plans are coming into focus! |

Just wondering if anyone has taken a piece of camouflage netting and turned it into a ghillie? including the faux leaves and such.

So, Level 2 Bolt action certification time. I must say, crawling through streams, bushes, and mud for 3 hours was probably the most, intense time ive so far!
I'm going to let my now disgusting (Success!) Ghillie suit dry, then darken up the "redish" brown more brown. One question though. If i want to add some canvas onto the front for added strength, should i get all the mud off/ clean it? |

If you want, a ghillie will always be a messy smelly thing anyways. Not like you'll be wearing it to the prom or anything.

That's a little too far. :P
But i think i got at least the front dirty. Lets just say, the woodland turned into a solid brown, coat of mud. Level 2 Certification passed! |

I followed the US Sniper manuals directions when I built mine ( a loooooong time ago!) and it turned out great! The pics you put up look pretty spot on... hard to judge on colour though as A: I don't know your AO and B: Cameras lie! ; )
But I did indeed attach a hard wearing surface to the knees and elbows (more toward to under part you use when you crawl)... I think I cut up peices from an old army duffle and had them Glued (used the nastiest stuff I could find at home depo) and then sewn on. The old duffle material also insulated my legs pretty well too. |

Don't mean to jack the thread, but since some of you seem to have a bit of experience buiding your own suits, I was curious if anyone has tried Tactical Concealments Sniper Ghillie suit Kit?
http://www.tacticalconcealment.net/pd_hardcore_camo.cfm Wondering if its worth the $200 and change. |

No, it's not worth the money. You can get the same type of materials for your ghillie from local craft/hobby/hardware stores for a fraction of the cost. Especially seeing as your are going to do the exact same amount of work regardless of using the prefab kit or not. However, I do not know what you have access to in Italy.
Do some searches in ASC, and you will find responses by CDN-Stalker, Fox_111, myself, and others on what and where to get items for constructing a ghillie. This may give you a better idea of your project costs and other options. SHA DO
