Well I was talking about both guys.
Left PJ: 552 with FAST? Seems anachronistic TCI PTT. Then again I'm not a PJ expert, but I'm surprised to see that.
Right PJ with the tactical moustache: no optic, apparently no BA, on top of the Arc'Teryx combat kit.

This is just unusual, at least for what I know.

Considering the leaves on the ground, I'd venture a guess that this was a stateside training/demonstration.

Ahh my mistake. As I said he looks older, he could be a training officer, giving orders etc.. Wouldn't need a full plate carrier if your job is to teach and train other guys.

Good guess Conker. It was a training in Alaska.

"1st Lt. Aaron Hunter (left), 212th Rescue Squadron combat rescue officer, and Tech. Sgt. Brandon Stuemke, 212th Rescue Squadron pararescueman, acsses the scene upon arrival during training at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on September 21, 2011."

Tell me those aren't Tru-Spec Tactical Responce Uniform. Notice the lift flap on the sleeve pocket.

It's another stateside training.

GhillieSnipes. I said they are wearing Arc'teryx.

I've shown you 2 other examples of OCP on PJs. 99% of pics I've seen do show PJs using the Crye stuff. Best bet, like Conker said, would be to get the Crye design style.

Looking to do a PJ impression and Im curious if PJ's are still using the M9 as a sidearm, or of any have gone to Sig 226's as most sf's seem to have gone that route to my knowledge. Lurked Militaryphotos for awhile and had a hard time even seeing PJ's with a sidearm visible but I may have just missed it.

Thanks!

RQS PJ's use the M9... STS, I'm not sure. I'll try to get that info.

Actually NSW uses the P226, but definitely not everyone... Army SOF are still mostly on the M9 (some on Glocks) and Marines SOF are on their custom 1911 platform.

EDIT: Just checked, and it looks like it's Beretta M9 all the way, both in STS and RQS squadrons.

STS uses the same stuff as RQS if I'm right. The only one using "special" stuff would 24 STS for the obvious reason

Vince, that's not what I understood from Matfar's various posts... A lot is common between them, but not everything.

But yeah obviously the 24th is a different thing altogether.

Propper has the current US Air Force uniform contract for utility uniforms. That means that via normal channels, i.e. uniform clothing store on base, it would be a Propper multicam uniform worn by a PJ. However local commanders have the ability to dictate local uniform policy, especially for deployed units. So you can see a lot of different uniform types. I don't think you would see the Atlanco TRU because it is really the same thing as the Propper uniform. You will see a mix of other multicam gear - Crye, Beyond Tactical, etc. And there are a lot more vying for those smaller, local uniform contracts. Massif makes the "authorized" Air Force multicam combat shirt--oddly only for enlisted--what about us officers? , but it has the crew neck collar, so you will also see zip up types (Crye, etc.) with the full collar in use to protect the neck from vest collars and slings. Even when not purchased by a unit, deployed airmen will purchase clothing on their own if it is more comfortable for a deployment. National Guard (State controlled) units have even more leeway.

We have Beyond making samples of the ABU (Air Force tigerstripe) in their L9 pant with Crye knee pads for CONUS SP (Security Police) and SS (Security Specialist) units. We wanted Crye to do it but they are so backed up with multicam production we could not have even gotten a sample in a reasonable amount of time.

By the way the issue Air Force sidearm is indeed the M9. I do not personally know if a unit commander has leeway on that policy. But when deployed with a Army unit it is normally acceptable to be able to wear and carry what that unit does.
