You can put any barrel in an AK, whether you decide to cover the extra length is up to you.

RPK barrels will fit a 590mm.

I suppose, but why would you want to?

Perhaps he's making an RPK.
I put a bore-up into a RPK with a 590mm barrel... aaaaand the results are fantastic... Sadly it's always on the other team that I am.. sooo an LMG with INSANE range is not something I'm looking forward to playing against every week lol |

why a psg1 barrel in my AK?
because I wanted a silencer and a riflescope and a guarder ftk. so I decided to buy the 150ftk bore up. and make it into a sniperrifle with small magz. I like the accuracy and distance. so it would be cool 4 me to play with them against theire high ROF. |

Since the thread has been revived from the dead, I'll take the opportunity to ask why do people use bore up kits in DSG setups?

Can't fix my own guns. Willing to fix yours.
|
to get every bit of air out of the half stoke, TBH the only place where i would bother to try a bore up kit... i dont see much or any diff in most conventional setups

We've found there's no longer a reason to have a meter long barrel, anything past 400 is a complete waste
So yeah, only time the bore up kit would matter is in a DSG setup |

since dsg halves the cylinder volume because it's essentially a short stroke on each shot... if you run a longer barrel you would need more air in the cylinder to match the barrel volume. The very rare instances in a full stroke setup you'd need one is in those guns that come with extremely long barrels over 450mm

Useful if you want to build something that joule creeps too. I am in the process of tinkering with a cylinder that is bored out up to the cylinder head. So bore up size piston head & std cylinder head. Joule creep build I want. Ideally shy of 350 with 0.2's and maintaining a good fps with 0.32's (so a 1 gun does all machine)

so 1.1j with .20s and 1.5ish joules with .32s? That's a pretty cool idea actually...

that's a pretty huge joule creep swing... I'm not sure if you can get that much difference.
