He needs to install a weaker spring to get it within field limits. That's 400 fps for outdoors, or 350 fps for indoors, both with .2g BBs.

You do seem to have a chip on your shoulder, and you will get fried to a crisp here, newbie tank or not.

Airsoft Canada

If you have a problem with someone in your local group who sent you off, or told you that you couldn't play with a sniper rifle you should take it up with them directly instead of trying to build up ammuniton here to bash them over the head with.

Depends where you are at. 380 fps with 0.25g is acceptable at most fields in Alberta.

Haha

Well, like many said, you get a new spring along with other downgrades until it is within the FPS limit of your local field.

what makes 4-5 hits by a .2 bb@ 350fps safer than a single .4 bb the exact same velocity.
kinetic energy- the .4bb has more of it at that very same speed

And yeah the limit at our field is much higher than 400fps outdoors, but people who dont play their guns safe dont get to use them (.25s at 380fps is actually close to the norm for the long range bush battles).

While I can't speak for why you were moved to the newbie section, I can definitely say that it's in your best interest. You're safe from the ASC hate machine in here. We play nice in here, and you should too.

It's NOT COOL at all to have someone running around with a high powered rifle and has only played a few games.

I myself eventually want to get into becoming a sniper or counter-sniper but I'm going to wait till I have more experience. It all really boils down to safety. Can you handle a high powered rifle safely? How many games have you played? Can you be trusted with a hot gun and use it safely? Can you judge distances?

In addition being a sniper IMHO is kind of boring work. You sit in a bush or tree all day waiting for someone to come by and ambush. Sometimes snipers only get 10 shots in a day. The thing is that snipers are masters of concealment, camouflage, and bushcraft. Where they really shine is relaying enemy movements back to the team so that you're better able to engage from an advantageous position.

L473ncy has nailed it- people with hot guns are expected to hold themselves to higher standards (strict ROEs)... so its not a hate on for snipers, its a hate on for BAD snipers

Just because you play tournament paintball, doesn't mean you are experienced. For example, if you have a clear view of a enemy on the field, only a limited time to shoot, but you are too close, and your going to think about that and not take that shot? Think about that. Sniping is not just 1337 guys picking off every guy they see. It's much, MUCH more complicated than that.

And CrunchMeister wasn't being a dick, he was giving you the advice you wanted but you were too caught up in your attitude.

So far everything Crunch has said has been useful information in answering your question, what are you talking about?

I answered your question in my first post. You either chose to ignore the reply or simply don't have the capacity to understand. I suspect it's the latter. And I also directly and correctly answered your question about your friend's SCAR. But seems like you like to overlook things too.

And I'm sure everyone else here will agree that you've been the only one that's been combative and mouthy at every reply that didn't fit your preconceived notions. You came in here riding on a high horse trying to tell experienced players how things should be from the perspective of a paintballer, which is non-applicable to airsoft anyway.

I'm probably one of the most welcoming members here towards noobs (a quick search of my past posts will illustrate that). However, you came in here with a bigass chip on your shoulder. So feel free to leave at any time. Because I can see you quickly getting banned anyway. And with your shitty attitude, I can probably speak for most saying you wouldn't be wanted playing airsoft anyway.

And no, I'm not a mod or admin in any way. I'm just another member that has actually earned the respect of the community.

Depending on where you're located there is a sniper course that you can take that if you can prove to the instructors that you can safely operate a higher-fps rifle then you are more likely to be allowed to run said rifle at games. However it is still up to the game host whether or not they let you run your rifle.
In my case for example I bought a very hot shooting bolt action probably abour 3-4 years ago. Only last year did I take the sniper course because I wanted more experience just playing with my aeg. This will be the first year I actually game my bolt action and I have done so already several times. While I have gotten some nice hits at long distance, there is still alot I have to learn yet.

This has got to be one of the the most subdued threads on sniping I've read in a while. Everything being said is literally bang on, and being said in a mature manner.

It's a nice change to see guys. Keep it up.
