+1 the more expensive camelbak is worth it, especially in the long run.
Those packs are 30$, what happens if you get mold growth and can't clean it out? What if they don't sell spare bladders and you have to buy another 30$ pack? I guarantee they don't have anti-microbial coatings on those bladders either, and camelbaks have insulation. My camelbak kept 3L of gatorade cool for 14 hours of 30 degree weather, there's replacement tubes and bladders available, it's high quality so you know it won't wear out, it's got an anti-microbial coating that works better than the blackhawk coating, it's MUCH easier to clean and dry out, the bladders are pressure tested (I had 3L between myself and a 120lb rucksack and there was no leaking at all), and as an added bonus it's also camouflage So the camelbak is definitely worth the money |

+2 to Camelback, I purchased a 3Litre bladder (no backpack) for $30 and ive used it for 2 years... I took pretty good care of it, but havent used it for a while... so I am going to purchase a new one, but this time a 2L as a 3L is just HUGE.

I've never used a camelback in a game before, but I use mine when I back country ski. In -20 celcius, if I kept it under my jacket, the combination of jacket, body warmth, and insulation in the camelback kept my gatorade from freezing. I highly recommend a real camelback, and not a knock off.

X2 Recommendations on authentic camelbak bladders. You don't need an actual camelbak backpack for it to work - any cheapass packs shaped to take on a hydration bladder will hold it. The newest Omega bladders are awesome with a wide mouth for easy refills and cleaning. I'm a skinny guy and I can reach into the pack to wash the insides of the Omega pack.
I've been using camelbaks since they first came out on the market and their hydration bladders reek of rubber back in the days - now no such thing, but the cheap chinese knockoffs have inherited the smell. Playtapus hydration bladders are also very good - but I'm more used to the bite valve on the camelbak bladders. |
