Stick to what you know, and that sir, is not goth fashion. EDIT: On the topic of boot performance, if you find a pair that has everything but soul comfort, I highly recommend the Dr Scholls memory foam inserts. I have a pair in my Stanley's and frankly the inserts are outlasting the boots.

My old Magnum Amazons served me well for 5 years of airsofting. Now I am using Danner TFX 8 for airsoft and work. Comfortable boot I ever worn.
Check out www.sportmansguide.com they have huge selection of boots. |

I use altama exospeed desert boots, extremely lightweight and great support. Not goretex, but for 20$ you can buy goretex socks lol
They cost me about 115$ after shipping Danner and Bates are also great boot companies. |

ya know, not to be a cheap ass or anything lol, but i bought some straight black boots from wal mart called "survivors" made by thinsulate for 50 bucks, i found them to be warm, comfortable and QUIET when running, if the terrain you play on isn't rocky or full of water, they are great. they wont stop a nail though....I will replace them with altama's later on however, only because another place we play on has alot of rocks and lots of water and id probably break my foot in them lol.

1.) I've seen Goths wear boots like that, so blah - also I really don't care 2.) And everyone wears boonie hats, you can' sterotype that as a sniper only hat or whatever. 3.) Dr Scholls and other soft soles suck. I have Sole Custom Footbeds an they are the cat's ass. http://www.cpgear.com/default.asp?mn...56&f=pd&pid=87 |

Another +1 for Altama Exospeeds. Great ankle support, stupid light, breathe well in hot weather, and so far, very durable. I've got a set of the side-zips, and a pair of Sealskinz gore-tex socks in the gear bag if it's wet out.

Magnum Stealth saftey 2 is what Ive been wearing for the last 4 months, great for work, air soft and even driving a manual transmission, unlike my previous work boots. These things arethe only footwear i have at the moment and they are damn comfy and durable.

I'm sure somebody with more experience like Morb or Scarecrow could explain better, but if these are to be your "play" boots for running around in on uneven terrain you will want to invest in a *good* pair of boots with proper support. Your feet and your ankles will thank you. Look into Danner, Belleville, etc. Boots like Magnum and SWAT are fantastic comfortable (ran around in my SWAT the day after buying them - no break-in required) but they're almost universally lacking in adequate support when compared to the other "dedicated" makes. The initial immediate comfort you gain from these come at a cost.

"Brand" boots that I have expierience with:
Lowa Oakley Magnum "Issue" boots British issue Proboot German Para boots To start with the Lowas: They are insanely expensive, but worth the money, given the fact that they are one of the few makes of boot that could possibly outlive the wearer. I especially recommend the combat variant. Slightly higher than the hiking version, giving better ankle support. The only downside of them from my expierience was that they took a while to break in. Oakleys: Personal favourites, I use these for day to day wear, as well as marshaling on the local site. Probably most ideal for urban wear, i'm not exactly sure if these were designed for use on woodland terrain given that the grip leaves a bit to be desired. That's not to say that there's not a certain "gucci" factor behind using em. Magnums: I had a pair of magnum classics, very basic entry level boot, and I put them through hell. Playing airsoft, up mountains, everyday wear and tear. Eventually the sole gave way after two years of heavy use. Issue: The british boots I had were unfortunately quite an ill fit from the off, and I had nothing but trouble with them. Everything from taking an eternity to break in to suffering blisters after about a one mile dander...binned after two months. German para boots. Praise be to the germans. Bloody brilliant boot. I can't sing the praise of these things high enough. You can pretty much put them through everything. Including fire at one point I dare say. Seemingly invincible, and very comfortable once broke in. Hope this was some help to you! In your price range: Oakleys, Brit Pro-boots, Magnums and German paras. Last edited by Bull; April 14th, 2008 at 22:14.. |
