Yes i do have the land version, I think my next purchase will be the EAGLE in maritime, I like the design of the cumberbund better and just over all user frendly-ness. I was'nt sure initially i would like the CIRAS system, so I skimped out and got the Pantac but after trying this bad boy on I am fully sold..enough to buy the real deal, provided i can use it when i go on tour to the Sandbox soon.

2. If should happen a round manages to penetrate or miss the plate, your medic will want to get this off you. If he/she doesn't know about the rip cord, he/she will try to cut the vest from you. These vests have a thick aircraft cable coated in plastic to hold it together, not very many combat knives cut through that stuff :P. So the extra 30 seconds it takes them to pull the entire thing off you, could either let you die, or get them caught in fire zones.

3. Am pretty sure that CF do not permit personal gear while on duty for not only the above listed reason(s), but also to ensure that you have proper armour and not something that you found on Ebay.
thanks for all the input and I must say very usefull (potentially life saveing) advice. thx brotha!. saved me from gett'n caught in a gun battle with just my d*ck in my hand. LOL.

I had a phantom Land Version CIRAS, and I loved it, and been thinking about getting one again. I only sold it because my play style got a lot of crawling involved into it now, and the CIRAS was great for keeping my stomach comfy, but it was too damned hot with the ghillie :P.

Most that info regarding over seas has been through grapevines of people I've been talking to and with, think one of those vines stemmed from Kokanee. But lot of it made sense to me. But as Kokanee said, pends who your with and whose foot's in your ass at the time. I don't know if I'd use a CIRAS if I get to go to the Sandbox, but there are quite a few other rigs I'd be looking at in the issued ones place if I had the choice.

Like what? Why would'nt you choose the CIRAS (if you don't mind my asking)?
Did you ever try to pull the rip cord?... more importantly have you ever had to put it back together?
do you know of any links that do a side-by-side review on the PANTAC/Phantom vs the EAGLE branded ones?

I owned a Pantac/Phantom CIRAS, yes I've pulled the rip cord, yes I've had to put it back together. Reasons I wouldn't use it are listed, the medic thing mostly.

I actually REALLY like my Universal Chest rig, its light, can go over any body armor, so just an LE like plate carrier with the UNI rig over it... Really I don't know, would have to see first everything I'd want/need to carry and be able to get too in hurry.

I just gave you a side by side comparison of the two, one is designed to be used for a GAME the other is designed and manufactured for the sole purpose of standing up to extreme conditions and getting shot at.

This is the Eagle UNI Chest
