Unhelpful comments aside - I am having a similar issue with my TM boy’s gun. Since this is “doctors corner” I would appreciate some additional info about this problem which it appears Jackel has already resolved. If folks would refrain from shitting in the thread (if that’s OK with Greylocks of course) we could exchange helpful information in this appropriate forum.

Greylocks, If you have to prove yourself on every debate by pushing forward your age then that indicates to me that mabye you should (in all your vast wisdom) act the age that you are pushing. Mabye instead of always trying to put someone down you should use your wisdom to help. I also do not believe in spoon feeding, but in all honesty if you are at least half the age that you have made yourself out to be you should look forward to being spoon fed by the same freindly fellow that will be changing your Depends. On a friendly final note don't take offence to the fact that I don't swoon over your agressive attack of children and "simple minded" folk like many other members of the forum do. PUTZ

If he formulated a question that can be answered, maybe there would be an answer. How about YOU try it, jackel?

What exactly is wrong with that Boys gun? Is it the batteries that are too weak? Are they installed into the gun incorrectly? Are the contacts dirty or corroded? Is the wiring still sound? Are the plastic gears toast?

Go ahead, try to diagnose it. I dont read minds, maybe you do? I want to see what you or anyone comes up with when there is no information to start from.

to open up the body of the gun you must first take off the battery assembly and then unscrew the reciever collar. The gun has a smoky/clear mechbox and on the side there is a switch ( same sort of assembly as an AEG) it is a simple switch that can be replaced with one from radio shack ( THE SOUCE hahah). Would go into it more but at work right now on a break and in dire need of a smoke

Im not sure if its 1/3 exactly, i think its 70%. Where you actually owned one though, im not gonna contest the statment. And im with you jackal, the whole greylocks issue is getting a little "old".

the body comes apart easily its just a lot of hidden screws but once you take your time it comes apart nicely

Thanks Jackel. The gun has been great but a short while ago I had a problem which forced me to replace the small spring which retains the plastic arm engaging that switch. I was lucky enough in that case to find the broken spring in the body which led me right to that particular problem. I had no need to open the mechbox but I suspected that the switch I could see was just the standard radio shack variety.
Recently my son complained that his gun stopped shooting again. I checked the batteries but they were good. I metered it and there appeared to be no current draw at all. The act of removing and reinstalling the batteries got it going again so I suspect a loose contact. The battery contact had shifted. Fixed - reinstalled properly and it's good again.
Similar experience to ProPilot maybe. Is this similar to the issue which forced you to replace the switch? Was it a hard fault or intermittent?

I found this link helpful. It may be of interest to anyone else working on there “Boys” gun. Some good stuff in it...

edit: the takedown description is not quite correct in that you do not have to cut the wires to the battery connectors. (Read it and you will see what I mean) You can simply slide the connectors from the battery housing.

This gun has worked very well. You do have to take care to use only high quality BB’s (the crapy tire BB’s wont do) It’s not for gaming, but is surprisingly fun for shooting tin cans from 30 - 40 feet away. No danger of denting the walls or kids getting hurt at 180 FPS with 0.12s.

This is only the second issue I have had with it in as many years.

(I scratch built the M203, it is cosmetic only)

I also upgraded the one that I had owned by adding a small spacer behind the main piston spring give it a noticable fps increase. Keep in mind doing so will drasticly limit the life of the gun and should only be preformed by somebody who is familiar with the internals.
