It gets even worse during winter games, when you need to layer up to withstand the cold. To much gear, or saggy clothes can make it very challenge to feel long distance hits. Helmets are aparently bad too. I was yelled out once because apparently I wasn't calling hits when shot at my helmet. Honestly I didn't feel or hear anything ,but in any, I don't wear my old PSGT outdoors now for good measure.

I don't like the fact that I have to wear thin layer to play this game. I bought my jacket for fall/winter play cause it rains too much here.

I do think keep on shooting is a better choice, but went I was shooting at a guy about 10m away, I saw the BB deflect off his chest and he kept on going. I just kept shooting him but unfortunately one shot landed right in his face. He wasn't wearing any head protection besides the goggles. I saw that where that bb landed and stopped shooting, stood up and signaled with my hands that is he okay, he gave me a thumbs up so i assume he is fine. People with not enough protection is actually scary, i'm only here to have fun, not to intentionally injure someone.

I'm only wearing a jacket and T-shirt for my upper..the jacket is the condor summit. So it's not something that is too padded. I don't wear any padding other than knee pads. although my vest is ridiculously large, because I'm running 1 triple, double stack AK pouch and other pouches.

I have been every guy in this situation at one time or another, I'm pretty sure everyone has for that matter, as I've yet to meet a living saint.

These days I just try to look after myself, and be the player I'd like to play against.
I'll give my team mates (team-team, not game team) a heads up if I see them slacking, and ask that they do the same.

Sometimes I still testosterone rage because I'm a Mongo (esp in CQB), but I always make an effort to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, talk things over between rounds, and calm the fuck down before even getting to "I shot you!" "No you di'nnt!".

Great thread and very valid points. We're looking into as many solutions as possible to minimize non-shot calling at the new Mach1 Arena opening this November. (Sorry for the shameless plug)
For indoor gaming, good sight lines for Ref's, and minimal unnecessary clutter so shots can be clearly identified are some of things we can control. It's much more difficult in an outdoor bush environment. In the end, whether it's indoor or outdoors, it's incumbent on everyone participating to call their hits.
The most important guideline to follow: " When in doubt, call yourself out." You'll be back in action soon enough.

It's not like there is a million dollar cash prize for the last man standing.
If there is a million dollar cash prize however, then DO NOT call yourself out until a ref drags you out by the ear!!

As for confronting people or getting yourself all worked up, save it for a time and place when it is actually called for. Find a ref if it is an ongoing concern, and let cooler heads prevail.

Just my 2 cents. But if you guys have any other suggestions that would help make your experience at the new arena more enjoyable check out the Mach1 arena thread and post your suggestions there.

If your playing a bunch of strangers in Masks and If you're trying to 'Win' whatever that is, then you'll have problems with hit calling and cheaters. Make friends, Play with them, have fun, and when in Doubt call yourself Out.

Calling other's hits is tantamount to giving the lie, expect confrontation if you choose to let words do what BBs should.

Give your friend the benefit of the doubt and shoot him again.

No one is hit till they call hit.. shooting continues until the target calls hit. Armoured opponents are engaged where the armour is absent. That is just being polite, and helping your friend out.

if you hit someone and you know it.. but they don't and they turn and shoot you, you are dead.. because you failed to shoot that person well enough that they knew it. Trying to assign your failure onto another demonstrates a weak character.

it is not possible to shoot someone too much, as shooting stops when the target calls hit and that act is acknowledged by the ceasing of fire. If the person wished to be shot less, they should seek to call hit faster. Even before being shot at all if necessary.

Complaining about getting shot too much at an airsoft event is like complaining about getting wet at a swim meet.

That's a valid response. Shoot it somewhere they will feel if if they are legitimately not calling the hit. Legs, exposed skin, necks, faces.

He wasn't wearing any head protection besides the goggles.

That's his problem, not yours.

You should NEVER have intent to injure another player. Obviously blasting someone in the face from ten feet away isn't responsible, but at range when they aren't calling hits is their problem. They have every right to wear a helmet, face guard, goggles, neck protector, etc. If they don't, oh well. I can tell you a shot off of your helmet or goggles will be noticed.

Whiney and bitchy players are one of the least liked groups on the field. Admins don't want constant complaining. Everyone has not called a hit for one reason or another, that's hardly the big picture. Some guy not calling your shot, is strictly your problem. If blatant cheating is witnessed, then you will not be the only victim. The few times I have ever complained to an admin about a player not calling their hits over a near ten year period are few, maybe less than a dozen times. If you know who, or can identify who, it is, then pass it out to your teammates as well. That way you'll have corroborated intel to give an admin. Also people will then e gunning for that player. If he is cheating, he'll catch more than his share of BBs by the end of the day. If that doesn't straighten him out, then he can be asked to leave.
