Lonex Motor Brushes

I just called a bunch of hobby shops on google and none of them said they could do it... Does anybody know of anyone in the GTA that can get this done? This is really starting to be a pain in the ass to fix a $60 motor that's a week old.

Am I the only one that keeps getting fucked by Lonex parts?

Any machinist would be able to do it, but it's a bit overkill.

Keep in mind that in either cases, you need to be able to open the motor bell (rear end) to pull the armature out and set it in a lathe.

RC com-lathes are literally miniature lates, with a rubber band spinning the armature (from a second motor) and a cutter making it all straight.
You can buy a cheap one for about 50$ (for the number of times you would lathe an airsoft motor, not worth investing in the Hudy one)

I had a G&P 140 which I assumed was a neo magnet motor. I thought the 120 was a ferrous.

Anyways.... I wore out the brushes on the G&P and was looking for replacements. I sent a PM to stealth regarding the Lonex brushes. he advised me that he doesnt carry them nor does he recommend them.

I ended up canabalizing a EG1000 for brushes and brush springs. Lathing a comm isnt too tough but the cost of a lathe that you are going to use once, you probably are better off going to a different motor.

Another guy in Edmonton is having problems with excessive build up on a Lonex Titan. After 2 weeks he had to rip apart the motor and clean it. After the next game same result. Over a course of the day while gaming you can hear what was a clean and crisp motor become slower and sluggish.

Ever since Rene had this issue I've been trying to get to the bottom of it.

Of all the motors that I've sold, I've had 2 A2s experience this problem. One A2 went back to the factory and I'm awaiting their answer on why this happens.

Did you get the Lonex parts from us? Shoot me an email and I'll get you sorted out.

maybe RC forum, but that's quite a hassle... There used to be a guy here in wpg that did them but he never did it widespread, just as a favor.
I never wanted to touch the damn things, guess I gotta expand the business again lol

You could try industrial motor service companies, but I really doubt they do anything so small, that's usually done by RC hobbyists

No I got them from Duy, he's a good guy I just talked to him and he said he's going to replace it.

This is what's happening to me too, I was getting a good 31 RPS, but every few hundred rounds the RoF was dropping noticeably... Now it's doing 21 RPS on a full charge...

I have a machinist friend that could do it (he built his own milling machine lmao) but at the rates he would charge, I'd be better off getting a new motor.
Anyway, Duy said he'd replace this one. I'm pretty sure I got a lemon, I'll just hope the replacement motor doesn't do anything dumb.

So courtesy of azathoth, I got to turn a lonex comm.
Let me tell you, this specific one was total garbage!
The comm was a triangular polygon, low on the centers, so tons of arcing and comm eating going on. This isn't normal comm wear, so the comm wasn't turned properly at the factory.

Anyway the situation is salvageable!
Although next time I'd like new brushes to go with the new comm.... I'm shipping this one back and we'll see how it runs now that the comm is circular!

Yeah it was one of yours then, he's sending me the other to get turned as well
He's also getting new brushes, so I'll be able to run in the next one properly

So yeah. I do motors now lol

Good to know. Those were definitely from a bad batch, I noticed their pinions were pretty shitty too. I got two replacements from Lonex and these two must be from a different batch because the pinions actually don't suck and neither one has burned out yet. There is still a lot of brush eating going on in one of them so I guess Lonex brushes are still crappy.

It may not have been really awful when you first got it, but I had to take .02" off the comm to true it lol

Yeah, Lonex QC ftw. The new motors I got are still holding up. The same M14 that burned out both of those is still working fine on the new ones so Lonex got their shit together.
