changing color of tac vest
Hey, I've got a tac vest I want to go from coyote to black.
I've heard you can paint them. Does this work? Does it look "painted"? any tricks to painting them? Should I try dyeing them first? I was almost thinking using fabric dye, to black then using paint...Will this work? and look good? thanks, K |

synthetic materials don't take dye very well, if at all......so i doubt dye would adhere to it.
If i were you i'd save for another vest, or sell the brown.

Unless you want to have a very used look for a black vest, painting will do the job.
But you are better selling it or buying another one. Painting gear work to camo it or give it a used look.

You can paint it... but it certainly will not look good.
it will look like a brown vest painted black= craptastic for the cost of another vest why ruin a brown one.. save some $ and buy a black one.

You can try a tea bath. I use that to take down the brightness of my stuff. It may make it darker for your needs.

You can also see if anyone's willing to trade gears with you.

I was thinking something like Strike's idea. Find someone in the same size that either has the black and will trade for the coyote or that wants the coyote and will buy the black then make the trade. One for one is simplest and most fair.
