Advice on my choice of gun.

I will soon be getting my first real airsoft gun from www.mach1airsoft.com , and I am looking for advice. I currently have a Crosman R76(the AK74), and after playing last winter and this whole summer I have found I feel more comfortable shooting at medium to long ranges. ROF is not really a concern, but accuracy definetly is. As this is going to be my first real airsoft gun I want to keep the cost as low as possible.

The guns I am thinking about are; ICS M4A1, ICS M16A3, and the SRC G36C.

I have read several reviews on each and what I've heard is that the ICS guns are loud(a con in my oppinion) and have a low FPS(also another con, as I will be shooting from medium-far distances). I have also heard that the SRC is built comparable to the real thing(well) and has a higher FPS, but the accuracy is not as high. There definetly will be upgrades in the future, so I would like to know; can the ICS guns handle a stronger spring without having to change other internals? And, can I add a longer barrel to the G36c without having to buy a new cylinder? Any other guns I should consider? And what are your oppinions of these guns?

In any case, from what you have here...I'd take SRC over ICS. The new cansoft stuff looks to be upgraded stock...however you said you like long / medium range and the G36C is more of a CQB weapon.

FPS doesn't actually mean range. It just means that the BB will reach the target faster. There's one member actually who has a gun running stock FPS (330 I think) and outranging other guns. Just remember you'll need to lead your shots because you're shooting slower.

As for the sound, you can do a few things to mitigate it but there will still be some sound. Proper shimming, possibly switching to helical gears, and setting your motor height properly are a few things that will quiet down your gun. A suppressor likely won't do much except for the sound of the BB exiting the barrel because most of the noise actually comes from the gearbox area.

I don't know about upgrading the spring but it's best to not IMO. Sure it's an instant upgrade to FPS but you have to make sure the gearbox can handle it and not break within the next few hundred shots (more wear, shock, and strain to the gearbox = shit breaking faster). You'll probably have to upgrade any plastic internals to metal ones and good quality metal ones not shit monkey metal.

You don't have to change the cylinder but it's recommended to get a cylinder that matches your barrel length.

With the ICS you've got the split gearbox design so you can pretty much just have 2 uppers and switch between them in like 5 minutes easy so if you play a lot of indoor and outdoor it's probably good cause you just pop in your upper and you've got the right length and speeds for CQB.

With the SRC though, it's been reviewed by a few people and they say that the 3rd gen SRC's are great, better than anything else currently available publicly without being AV'ed.

I really push AV if you're willing to pay a little more for much better quality (take a look at the FAQ's and the top of the newbie tank for a general "price" table for what to expect in the classifieds).

I am also looking to buy new, that way when I go to see the guns I can compare the qaulity/feel first beside another gun.

And I play strictly outdoor. That way I can incorporate outside variables such as wind, cover, sound. I just find outdoor slightly more fun.

Would you recommend any other guns on the Mach1 site?

I am not exactly sure where I can get an S-Sytem though. The reason I am choosing to purchade through Mach1 is because one of their retailers are just a 5 minute drive away.

yeaston you are order other guns from mach1 too. im getting a quote from them for the src gen 3 m4, which isnt on their site. what they can do is drop ship it to me from their warehouse.

Well it pretty much gives you access to the Classifieds and AV retailer sections (NIB "black guns" in there) cause you've proven your age however something else that it gives you (that isn't really a tangible benefit) is that you are given more respect on a whole (as long as you prove you deserve the respect). It shows that you're willing to be a contributing member to the community and discussions.

Take a look at the noobs that we get every week asking "w0t gun 4m b3st?" (you'll see why we're so jaded toward non AV members soon enough if you spend enough time on the forums).

That being said, however, there are some minors and un AV'ed members who do get the respect just because they've proven themselves to actually want to be contributing members, they listen and read the extensive FAQ section that covers pretty much everything that one would need to know to start and only then if they have a question they post it and usually get a warm reception from the community.

There's actually only one recent minor that jumps to mind when I try to think about a minor that actually deserves my respect and he doesn't even live on the continent, he actually was probably one of the few ones that typed in proper sentences and used proper grammar.

Of the three guns I listed, which would you say is the most accurate?

If what yoru looking for is accuracy then go for the fullsized m16 and get age verified and find a bullpup style rifle on the classifieds that way you can do cqb and have the range of a fullsized : ).

Bullpups are similar in size to a Smg or small carbine but they hit you out way farther then either of those : )

One thing to be aware of is with bullpup rifles is that the gearbox and motor are right next to your head so it might seem "louder" because of the closer proximity to your ear than a regular rifle such as an M16, AK, or G36.

IMO stock accuracy means shit (although there are probably a lot of other people who think otherwise). Play with your gun first before you think of upgrading (even if it's a crappy Aftermath, although I'm not saying you should say screw it to preventative maintenance) but there are always things you can do to "upgrade" your accuracy. Using .25 or .28 gram BB's outdoors for starters, this will give you enough of an accuracy "upgrade".

After that it really depends on the quality of the hop up unit and rubber. Make sure you don't get any oil or lubricant on your hop up rubber and you'll be good (oil prevents the rubber from doing it's magic and applying friction to the BB so that it spins).

Another thing that you could do (but isn't recommended unless you're using a sniper rifle) is "washing" your BB's. This isn't recommended for most people though since there is a very high chance that you will tear your hop up rubber and have to replace it especially with people who are trigger happy.

Read the FAQ section on which gun you should purchase first. Remember the game is like 50% a fashion show so go with whatever you think looks more badass. That being said don't purchase crappy stuff that looks badass, think about enjoyment/comfort too. Are you comfortable reloading a bullpup? It might get some taking used to (I personally don't really like reloading bullpups but I probably could do it fluidly if I practised enough on one).

I would go with the SRC out of the 3 guns you listed there but if you get AV'ed I would go with a nice TM or CA ("proline").

I play strictly outdoors so I do not think I will need another gun after this one; untill I do decide to get into other variations of the game.

you say you want a G36c, but want a longer barrel, why not buy a longer length G36 from 007airsoft or capitalairsoft.

Maybe someone already suggested that, but i don't have time to read the whole thread, sorry,
