How long will it take, AV'ed?
I just got verified today, and I'm just wondering how long it will take for the mods to change my status as AV'ed?

I've been waiting 9 days.

Sometimes takes up to 2-3 weeks. The people who update the status in the website are busy people and have lives (wives, children, etc). So they can't just sit there waiting for someone to be AV'd and update their status.
Be patient. The guns aren't going anywhere.

Took me around 5 days myself. Maybe a week. Its been a while.
Either way, however long it takes it'll be well worth the wait. However... |

How long depends on a f couple of things. First, it depends in how promptly your verifier submits your name to the system. At that point, it's up to the admins. They tend to batch update usually every 7-10 days. So if you're lucky, you can get it quick, but expect at least 1 week.

I got mine done on friday also, but one of the members i talk to says hers took 2 months. That's a little scarey.
Just out of curiosity, what extra steps to verify age do the admins who do the updates take? If the answer to that is nothing, which sounds most likely, then why don't age verifiers have the ability to do that update themselves? If they are trusting the AV'ers ultimately with the decision, and all they do is stick a post in a forum somewhere, then it sounds like it would take a load off the admins' back and make it quicker to let the AVers do it themselves. Oh well, maybe when I get done and participate a bit I could get friendly with the admins and help suggest, and maybe even implement, a quicker system. Honestly, it is rarely, if ever, more than a month. Hell its rarely over a week!
If you can't wait a week to get AV'd, then really, wtf? Have some patience. Like I said in a previous post. The guns aren't going anywhere. Just hold your horses.

I'm in the business of making computers and procedures more efficient and safe, I'm still in university (4th year) but it is my field of practice. I don't have a problem with it taking a while, I'm just curious about why these extra steps are in place, steps that seem to have no bearing on the end result (which is what I asked), and whether there's a feasible way to remove them. If the admins have no interest in me taking a look to see whether I can suggest improvements to the system a long while down the road once I've been posting and joined the community further I'm totally fine with that. But I felt I should at least offer my skills and abilities and improve the system if I think it can be improved. Please don't take me for someone who's incredibly impatient, I have patience and I'm using it. I just wanted to help out the community by speeding up a process that seems to take longer than it needs to given the procedure taking place.

Oh yes, I am sorry if it sounded like I was directing that at you. I wasn't accusing you of being impatient one bit. But there are very, VERY many people who post the day after meeting with their AV rep and wondering when they will be AV'd, how long it will take, why it hasn't gone through yet, etc.
The process is only slow because it is one or two people who update the status on the website, and they are very busy people. However, they are trustworthy and have been doing this for years. It would need to be someone who was as trustworthy as these people and as committed and dedicated to this community to take their place. The reason why it isn't instant isn't due to systems limitations, just due to the lives of those who have the power to update the statuses.
