Name the piece
Greets,
So I kinda forgot that G&P didn't have screwed in receiver pins in their ar-15s, so my whole upper came crashing down in a game tonight. No big problems, but a small piece snapped in two. Trying to glue it back together but I'm not expecting much. This little fellow here: Is it possible to purchase it without buying a new hop up, and can I forgo it's use? |

Hop Up Clip.
Not possible to purchase on its own, unless someone around here has a busted hop up and can part with the clip - it is 100% required to ensure reliable operation of your hop up and firing. |

That is seriously the most important part in there, if it's cracked, your barrel will jiggle forward causing nasty fps loss (as in lucky to get 200fps ouf of your gun), and if it's totally missing.............. expect the inner barrel to fly out the front end (happened when test firing a buddy's M4......... long silver streak out the front end and loud clanging on the floor........ he forgot to put the clip in. Luckily he found it on he bedroom floor, and not knowing what it was, set it on his dresser.

Can you hum a few bars...... LOL Ah the c clip. Mine broke too, but still works fine. Gluing likely won't work. I tried to no avail. Just install the c clip, and then teflon tape over it, not too much though or you will have a hard time getting it in the outer barrel. no issues with it at all.

I have also had really good experiences with the King Arms hopup with the o-rings that seal it to the front of the mechbox and top of the mag, it often adds 10-20fps as well due to better airseal. Check the classifieds for a stock TM unit, lots of people metalize their guns and that means a new hopup. The stock TM/JG split hopup has a working c-clip that most people have spare if they replaced the hopup. |

I believe I have spares if you want one.

C Clip, If you are replacing the entire hopup Prometheus Neo, that thing is pimp. PS. the prometheus neo hopup's c clip is a different shape from everyone elses. |

The brass ring also necessary? I am seeing more and more AEG's when i open them up missing the ring now.

The KA clip won't fit...different shape. The G&P ones are "standard" shape.
The brass ring helps to center and stabilize the inner barrel within the hopup. Not only should the ring be a tight fit on the inner barrel...but it should be a squeeker to get into the hopup unit. An AEG will work without one...and I haven't been able to detect any significant FPS loss/gain by not having one. Can't say for certain re. accuracy gain/loss...most of mine end up being carbine/CQB rifles. But if you've got one...they're worth putting in there. |

That's why I'm a big fan of systema hop-up packing's because they come with the brass ring that so many AEG's are missing.
