M14 misfeed

Alright so I have a KART EBR and I put into it:

-ball bearing piston head
-tappet plate
-airseal nozzle
-bushings
- sorbo pad
-m110

problem is, I looked down the well were bb's travel into the hopup, and i can see the nozzle exposed by a little bit, Could this be the problem of misfeed?

could the nozzle not be going far back enough?

can I solve it by cutting the tip of the nozzle off by a little bit, or could it be a tappet plate or gear that pulls it back problem?

How exactly does it misfeeds? I mean can it shoot on semi-auto and sometime it misfeeds then burst out like 3 rounds, .... Or it doesnt shoot at all?

like if u fire full auto, it will shoot sometimes in a row and sometimes dry sfire 5 shots then shoot bb's again.

on semi auto it shoots then dries, thenn shoots, then dries, then shoots etc...
on semi auto it shoots maybe 3-5 then skips 1-3...its really random....

can someone look down their bb well and tell me if they see the nozzle exposed by a little bit? then il eliminate that from my prob to check list.

coul i replace the gear that connects to the tappet plate or is it unique to the V7 since that metal sylinder that grasps the tappet plate is so thick?

It's not uncommon to see the nozzle, that's not a problem unless you don't see it move when you dry fire.

I'd suggest turning the gun upside and firing it. Maybe it's a feeding issue.

Couple drops of silicon oil into the hopup through the magwell. Try different mags (or put a few drops of oil in the one you're using). If those 2 don't work it's some sort of blockage problem. Silicon oil in the hopup fixes damn near 75% of the feeding issues I see.

Definitly sounds like a mag issue, ran into that will my TM M14 socom.. the rifle shot faster than the mags would feed on full auto. Nothing a little lube in the mags won't fix.

KA mags have known issues with TM m14s, not sure about kart, but it does sound like a mag issue, not really a gun issue, but i could be wrong... it happened once before

You could also check the hopup rubber... Maybe it doesnt sit correctly and block the bbs when you shoot,

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with either the mags, or the hopup rubber...

Got the same problem with my TSD m-14 ( Kart rebadge). Even with good mag it still missfeed. Worked well for the first 2 months I had it then this problem happened.

I tough it was the tappet plate that cause this problem but seeing I that you've put a good one in yours,I suspect has to do with the timing in the tapet plate.

As you can see in this video, the tappet plate movement seem to differ when switching mode form single to full auto:

Nozzlemouvement.flv - Video - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So far I haven't found any solution. I'd like to try toying with the gear setting, but I lack to time to try it so I only use single shot. What fun with the ver.7 is that you can really abuse of the single shot and you wont get any jam.

There's no such thing thing as "timing of the tappet plate" or "gear timing". What you are noticing in your video is gear overspin while in full auto. This means that you let go of the trigger later in the cycle than when the semi auto cutoff lever cuts power...the gears still have momentum and keep spinning. In full auto your gears will stop in various positions (thus so will your tappet plate) because you usually don't let go of the trigger at the same gear position every time. Make sense?

Probable causes:

- Dry hopup rubber (add silicon)
- Crappy mag (try different brand and/or add silicon)
- Hopup rubber not installed right blocking BB's (shouldn't be if you never touched it and it was firing properly before hand).

Need a bit more background on the performance before upgrades (ie. was it misfeeding then)?

It worked fine according to previous owner.

Il get home tomorow and Ill try:

silicone the bb's and shoot them through so that the rubber is lubed inside.
if this doesnt work, then Il take out the rubber and make sure its installed properly but im pretty sure it is....

then Ill report back.

rubber Lubed, mag tongue cut a little bit, lubed the magwell.

No effect. still does random feeding. For sure it is the nozzle not going back far enough.

have 2 choices

- cut the tip of the nozzle off.
- replace the SECTOR gear with a reinforced modify sector gear and see if it pulls better. UNLESS the sector gear is unique to the V7
