Worn out motor?

ok. its a v2 gearbox so yea its a long type motor.
its not pulling a very tough spring, maybe 330 or 340fps(doesnt pierce a soda can) but sometimes when you let go of the trigger it sounds like the spring is pushing the piston making the gears move and turning the motor and makes a little whir-ur-r noise. does that mean the motor is worn out? if so would an eg 1000 be enough as a replacement along with a 390 fps spring?

EG 1000 motor is quite capable of pulling a M130(450fps) spring without any torque up gears add some torque up gears and you'll be good till m170.

if the motor works and doesn't heat up I guess it's still good.
the pb is that motor always make some sort of a whir-ur-ring sound

Why don't you just take out the motor, have the plugs and wires in, pull the trigger and see if it spins, if it spins, then there is nothing wrong with the motor. If the gear on the motor is worn out, common sense that the gears on it is stripped, then it is worned out. If it's worned out, either pushed the motor up too high, or not enough causing the wrong allignment.
And also if it is worned out, then you got to open the gear box up and fix the reversal latch. If that isn't the problem, you need to re-shim the gears. When you do that, you need greese/lube.

If you plan to get a new motor, than agree to everyone else, the TM EG1000. Great for clones and actual TM's.

i might just buy it cuz its only ten dollars. none of my other aegs have this problem with the motor moving by itself. it has to be the spring thats causing the rotation of the motor cuz when it shoots it shots fine so then in order for the motor to turn all the gears have to be moving also

Can be pinion gear worn, bevel gear worn, piston tooth worn, piston head worn etc...

if motor deepth is well set and gears seem to turn, can be more like a worn tooth piston.

Can be many things, best move is to eliminate causes one by one before getting a new motor. EG1000 is good till 400fps.

Even if the motor spins it doesnt mean its good. Check for sparking near the rear of the motor, heat, and a burning smell when you spin the motor outside the gun.

By your original description it sounds like your anti-reverse latch is screwed. Does it do this in semi, or only in full auto.

both auto and semi. and ive never seen a motor on a gearbox that didnt spark occasionally even brand new. my krakens motor does it every pull of the trigger and doesnt appear to be anything wrong with it

the spring on the anti-reversal latch might just not be in the right place making it weaker. in a dif gearbox i had the end of the long part of the spring that sticks against the gearbox wall, a little of it broke off and it still worked properly

I would put my money on your anti reverse latch. And yes your motor will spark a bit. If it is burnt out and still runs it will smell and spark excessively. Buy a new spring set for a couple bucks.

ok so i installed a stronger spring today. checked the anti-reversal latch and all the gears and piston. nothing seems to be wrong. but when i tried firing it it just made a little whirr sound and didnt fire. i hooked up a 9.6 mini battery and it fired fine.
so is this a good sign the motor is worn out if a firefox 8.4 mini cant power it enough to pull a 390 fps spring?

What's the c rating on that 8.4 mini? Some minis would struggle with 390, especially on a lower end motor.
