How To Remove Gearbox Part

how do i remove this little part sticking up at the top of my gearbox?
it wont fit into my sl-8 with it sticking up

im bout ready to try a hack saw. i slid the black part on top forward and the thing stickin up looks like it should just slide out and its all loose and jiggly. i tried tapping it out with a rubber mallet but it wont budge. i really dont wanna have to take the whole box apart to remove it. ive never had one apart before and i dont wanna screw it up. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

If I remember correctly, you're supposed to slide the top piece of your mechbox out, let me find the video for you.

http://www.mechbox.com/site/mechbox-...ade-video.html

That should do the trick.

You slide the long thin black metal piece off from the top of your mechbox, which clamps the 2 halves of the mechbox together then it should slide out.

thanks im watching the vid right now and im gonna see if it will help me any
i did slide the black piece off. i think theres bits of metal on the box that wont let that piece slide out. i can see were the grooves are a little buckled outward from tapping on it

Ah, that sucks then, maybe you just need to try harder if it's buckled in; maybe even fix it once it's out.

i imagine that if i beat on it hard enough itll break those bits off so it can slide out but i dont wanna damage the boxes insides from all the shock of the pounding or possibly deform the box

sorry. video didnt really help at all with getting that part off

Unscrew the screws on the mechbox. The mechbox halves should split a little bit, giving you enough room to wiggle that piece out.

+1, that's how it's removed. You have to separate the shell halves. Don't beat it with anything, you'll probably cause damage.

Why didn't you just separate the GB?

U need to open the gearbox to remove that part just take out the screws hold it the gearbox closed.. Take a small flat head and split the top of the gearbox open just a bit, then it should slide right out
Put all the screws back into the gearbox

gr omg! if i had one of those little power tools i could just chew up the bit of plastic on the inside that that little part is hitting on. it wouldnt affect the gun at all

i got the two halves apart and the bitch piece removed finally but now im having trouble getting the two halves back together the way theyre sposed to be

Dude... you didn't listen to us. You DON'T have to completely separate the mechbox shells.. you need to separate them maybe 3-4mm at the top to get that piece out... they should mesh back perfectly...

thats all i did and i think something with the spring guide shifted
as soon as i got the top corner to budge the slightest bit something inside make a clicking noise

i took the box half off to see whats in the way in there. everything seems like it is where its sposed to be. i didnt actually take anything out but i cant figure out what is getting in the way of it closing back up. it seems like its in the area of the gears where the tappet plate thing comes back to the gears
