JG 416 front sight minnor issue.

Ok, I know how to fix this, but what I really need to know is what tools I need to use and how I should use them. I basically just need to disconnect the front sight from the barrel and rotate it about 5-10 degrees, as it is ever so slightly to the left. (FYI, rail system is straight, barrel is straight, prob is just the sight)

as you can see in this picture nothing is lineing up

Looks like you have to rotate the Gas Block not the sight. Should be loosened by an allen wrench.

oh right, I meant the whole gas block, sorry. AND I've already tryed taking off the rail system (a pain since the gas block is in the way, you'd know if you tried) and loosening, hell I took out the allen screw to no prevail, there are 2 chrome pins along the bottom that look like they are used to anchor the gas block and I think I need to re move these, reposition everything and re-insert them. Though thanks for trying to help Qlong.

When you removed the RIS, did you confirm that the barrel was indeed properly seated in the body? If the barrel wasn't in correctly, then that may be the problem, and not the gas block / sight assembly.

And just out of curiosity (non-related), how sharp are the rails on your 416? I have some REAL sharp edges on mine.

VERY sharp rails crunch, and yeah I've checked the barrel/body seating. also the flat spots on the bottom of the barrel run are pointing straight down when the gun is pointed straight, so the barrel is good. If it looks that way because of the flash suppressor, well It was easier for me to reference the gas block while lineing up my front sight than it would be to line it up with the rest of the gun.

I have a hard time grabbing it from the rails with my bare hands

My front end is also a bit off center, and the rails are fuggin sharp (which is why I got bamboo covers). I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Actually, I think TS mentioned someone in his thread that the rails weren't sharp, but not in his original review post, somewhere further in the thread, although I could be wrong.

I ordered some rail covers too. I work at a computer and I'm a musician. I'd like to keep my hands in good condition it at all possible. lol

Fixed mine
Step 1: remove front sight with a slotted screwdriver
Step 2: remove allen screw from the rail
Step 3: with a mallet light tap the rail off, no twisting, its basically held in by
friction
Step 4: remove hex screw at the bottom of the gas block
Step 5: (hard part, requires alot of force) tap out both pins
Step 6: index gas block to desired fitting
Step 7: tap pins back in, making sure the gas block did not change
Step 8: screw hex crew back in
Step 9: gently tap rail back in and replace allen screw
Step 10: replace front sight

I did, but not as bad as some people. I mean, the rails on my 416 are only a little more edgy than the rails on my MRE on my M4. Im not gona be cuttin any skin but its fairly edgy. But it seems like some people have possibly broken skin on a corner or something.
