Unhappy Battery Question

I have a: 8.4V 1200 mAh large battery and am having troubles with it. I think it has developed memory and it wont hold a charge even enough to shoot. I know this may sound stupid but can I replace it with another battery from another gun as long as it has the same voltage and mAH?

of course you can replace them... try freezing the battery in the freezer to reset the memory if you will

99.9% of AEGs do not use a completely specific battery. Just get any 8.4v large battery, as long as it's not 1200mah, because that's a really low number for a large battery.

Just to clarify before I purchase a new one so for example a "8.4V 3600mAH" batetr would work? Also are all the plugs the same, I have a WELLS R-8 by China Air.

The higher the mAh the longer the battery will last. There are a few different types of connectors. Chances are it will fit. Most large batteries have the same connector.

before you spend money on a new battery, (and if its a nicad you currently have) find a friend with a good charger that can "recondition" batteries (ie) wipe the memory and start over. if this is not available head to your closest r/c car/hobby shop to see if they can help you with your battery memory problem.

I prefer NiMh batteries because of they don't have the memory curse

I use this one in my TM AK47 and it's perfect. An 8.4 V 3300 mAh

(I don;t know about the freezer, sounds interesting)
just discharge it properly after each game.

you can buy a discharger, or wire electrical bulbs together to create a discharger.

1) If you get a new battery, buy a good charger. There is no point spending $60 on a battery and putting it on a shitty charger. The bbbastard NPT charger for $60 is good for airsoft. I've been using one with no issues.

2) That's a China made gun, and most of the batteries that come with China made guns are complete shit. You'll probably notice a performance increase when you put a good battery in it.

3) If discharging, check it with a multimeter and make sure you don't dischage the pack below 7 volts. Doing that to a Ni-Cad battery will kill it.

Some more High school Science. Current is conducted better at lower temperatures. As an experiment take some regular batteries for some electronic device that are borderline about to die out. Take them out and toss them in the freezer for several hours and pop them back into the device. You notice that the once dead batteries have come back to life Albeit a short time.

The chemistry of some batteries are affected by the cold. Over time Crystals form within the battery Cell this is the cause of "memory". The goal of freezing the battery is to break down these crystals.

I don't know what batteries you can do this with (NiCd's or NiMH) but I do know that Li-Po should not be frozen.
